SPECIAL EVENT: MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK SWIM Miami, she says, is the perfect setting to show what is new in her world because of its amazing, cross-cultural energy. “The beach here creates a perfect backdrop in which to wear Trina Turk,” said Turk. “Miamians are not afraid of color in their clothing or their interiors, and that’s perfect for us!” A Label’s New Level Also no strangers to Swim week are the folks from True Religion. You read that right. The best-known-for-denim label also does swimwear, and they do a pretty good, fun, and sexy job, too. The 2010 collection was, in fact, the first designed under the Sea & Sun license, which also includes Bejeweled, Marvel Comics, and Ed Hardy – a partnership that has taken True Religion to the next level. “The latest collection came from True Religion’s famous denim line, which is rooted in hippie chic and boho inspirations,” said Fawn Arthur, creative director of Sea & Sun Swimwear. “The suits, for men and women, drew from everything from the looks of your favorite washed-out garment to wild animal prints.” True Religion came to Miami to let everyone here be the first to get a peek, natch, and you best believe they are coming back in July to turn us on again. “We like to think that True Religion is a brand for everyone, so showing the line to a city that is a melting pot of cultures makes for a great way to kick off season,” Arthur said. “It’s every designer’s dream to be part of Swim week. We’re excited to be returning.” For 2011, she advises clients and fashionistas to expect brighter, bolder colors and textured fabrics that create iridescence. “Cuts will be a sexier than our 2010 collection, which revealed cheeky boy shorts and string bikini tops,” she said. “If you could create a perfect blend of sex appeal with glamour and sophistication, it’d be True Religion’s 2011 collection.” For more information about Swim week, and a complete schedule of shows, visit MBFashionWeek.com/Miami.ML A look at True Religion’s 2010 collection!
