It has a skate park, sailing program for juniors, dog park, picnic shelters and The Bill Graham Farm Village. A re-creation of the early pioneer homesteads, the village features a barn with petting zoo, a shed for demonstrations like horseshoeing, country store, boiling shed and sugar cane press. This journey back in time is educational and fun. Situated on half a mile of rail, this museum highlights the history and preservation of historic railroad equipment. Historical cars are on display like the Ferdinand Magellan, which has served past presidents such as Franklin D. Roosevelt and Harry Truman. Children can hop aboard the Edwin Link Children’s Railroad for a 20-minute ride on the 2-feet gauge track. The history of South Florida as well as that of Florida’s closest neighbor, the Caribbean, is found right here. With various exhibits running throughout the year, visitors can learn and view photos of the south’s past. This hip, old-Hollywood bowling alley has a cool vibe. Within the 15,000 square feet, there are 14 lanes, a bar/lounge, and restaurant serving up great food. Plan your next party here or come for some weekend fun. Spread out over 56,500 square feet is 12 galleries, classrooms, a research center, gift shop and Subway restaurant. Fraught with interactive activities, programs, exhibitions and classes, children will have a blast learning all sorts of skills like cooking, fashion design and digital photography. When is the last time you brought the kids to the zoo? Spend the day rediscovering the incredible animals here-- tigers, monkeys, White-handed Gibbons, a Tree Kangaroo, an elephant that paints, and more. The 38-acre area is home to marine life such as dolphins, whales, sea lions among others. Come see one of their 8 different water shows, where expertly-trained animals perform. And the best part about this place is you can swim with the dolphins! Learn about the culture, lifestyle and history of the Tribe. Observe Miccosukee Indians as they engage in the art of doll making, beadwork, woodcarving, patchwork and basket weaving. Be captivated by live alligator demonstrations and explore the Everglades on airboat rides, which stop at an authentic, hammock-style Indian Camp. Visit the Gift Shop and taste local cuisine at the restaurant. Parrot Jungle was started in 1936, when Franz Scherr only had 25 Macaws, today you’ll find 1,100 tropical birds among a tropical paradise fraught with 2,000 plants and flowers.
