SCOOP Miami Star Report Words by Martin Haro Let’s pick up right where we left off last time, OK. Art Basel Miami Beach was just getting started last time we star-sighted together, and that means more celebrities were arriving in Miami to join the party, including Sylvester Stallone and Jennifer Flavin. Sly attended the Basel vernissage at the Miami Beach Convention Center as – whaddya know – a featured artist. Talk about a Magic City blast from the past, huh? Also there was a stunning-looking Elle MacPherson, Calvin Klein, Pharrell, and Anthony Kennedy Shriver. At Art Miami, Burt Young, a.k.a. Paulie in the Rocky movies, gave Stallone some competition for art aficionados’ attention as he, too, had work in exhibition. Meanwhile, the MisShapes, Jefferson Hack, and Jeremy Scott attended the AnOther magazine party atop the Delano Hotel; Naomi Campbell checked out the scene at Nest on Lincoln Road; and Christian Louboutin opened his eponymous store in the Miami Design District. Paulina Rubio announced the launch of the Fundación Paulina Rubio with Susana Dosamantes, her mother, and Helio Castroneves by her side, while High School Musical star Corbin Bleu boarded the Oasis of the Seas for a Make-A-Wish fundraiser, and Dita Von Teese plugged her book Dita: Stripteese at Books & Books on Lincoln Road. While in town, La Rubio and John McEnroe held court with Mexican billionaire Eugenio Lopez Alonzo at the grand opening of his Jumex Collection at the Bass Museum of Art, which Lance Armstrong toured with artist Dzine. Contemporary artist Chuck Close browsed galleries at the SCOPE Art Show, while Christopher Ciccone hosted his own show at Avant Gallery in the MDD. Viktor & Rolf threw a private dinner at The Webster that drew out OK GO, China Chow, Diesel’s Renzo Rosso, and Dsquared2’s Dean and Dan Caten, while Russell Simmons rubbed elbows with Ebony Bones at the ArtCenter/SouthFlorida’s after-party for “Blue Print for Space” at the Shore Club. STAR SIGHTINGS Sylvester Stallone & Jennifer Flavin attended the Art Basel Miami Beach vernissage at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Pharrell also was spotted at the Basel vernissage. Dita Von Teese promoted her new book at Books & Books on South Beach. 138 MIAMI LIVING
