PROFILE Synergy Wellness Clinic Achieve a healthier life through the teachings and practice of the true principles of chiropractic, massage, nutrition, rehabilitation, and physically active wellness care As a college-scholarship lacrosse player, with two slipped discs, I know how important it is to have a great chiropractor. Last month, I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Gustavo Marshall, who introduced me to his practice and gave me a tour of his clinic, located downtown in the heart of Miami. It wasn't long after I met with Dr. Marshall that I learned what it was that set him aside from the many other chiropractors I have worked with in the past. Instead of relying solely on medicine and other medial devices for treatment, Dr. Marshall's wellness approach is different than most. Rather than adding something to the system, Dr. Marshall's wellness approach is to remove anything that may interfere with normal function. Wellness care trusts that the body would know what to do if it had nothing interfering with it. Standard wellness care, on the other hand, seeks to treat a symptom by adding something from the outside —a medication, surgery, or procedure. I was so intrigued by Dr. Marshall's method of treatment that I asked him to share his story with Miami Living Magazine. Dr. Gustavo Marshall My name is Dr. Gustavo Marshall. More than 30 years ago, at my birth, the doctor used forceps during my delivery. The 90 MIAMI LIVING forceps caused multiple misalignments in my spine, especially the top two vertebras in my spine, CI & C2. From birth to 14 years of age, my growth was stunted and I suffered constant, severe back pain and headaches. At age 14, the professional help I needed finally presented itself to my mother. I attended the Dade County Youth Fair at Tamiami Park with my family. There we met a chiropractic physician who transformed my life. This chiropractor invited me to his clinic, examined me, and found irritation to my central nervous system. He began to correct this interference with a course of corrective chiropractic care. From that day forward, the natural healing miracle began to unfold immediately. I no longer suffered neck and back pain. My innate healing power unleashed and I grew four inches that first year. My overall health soared —the intenseness of my asthma and allergy attacks diminished, I was healing quicker, was sick less frequently, and had a faster reaction time to stimuli — to name a few advantages. Finally, I was able to feel normal and function well. I was able to focus in school, instead of on my pains and discomfort, so my grades improved. Most importantly, my body began to function at its full potential. My love and fascination for chiropractic healing arts began at that time. As a result of my dramatic health transformation through chiropractic care, I decided to become a chiropractic physician myself. Today, I want to bring this healing miracle to you and your loved ones. Health is not defined as an absence of symptoms or how you feel, but how you function. Pain or no pain: 100% body function is crucial to become or stay healthy. Testimonial As Dr. Marshall's patient, I am more than happy to recommend him to new patients. Since I have started working with him, I have had less back spasms, I am not taking nearly as high of a dose of pain killers as I previously took, and I am able to wear high heels to work again. These are just a few examples of the way Dr. Marshall has improved the quality of my life, if you are seeking medical help for back and joint issues, look no further, Synergy Wellness Clinic is your solution!
