FOOD TANTALIZE YOUR TASTEBUDS Awaken your senses with the style, flavor & laid-back sophistication of Cafeina If you haven't yet dined or reveled in the art and alluring ambiance that Cafeina embodies, you're missing out. Cafeina (Spanish for caffeine) is the hip resto-lounge and gallery by entrepreneur-turned- restaurateur Ivette Naranjo and interior designer Pepe Calderin. Since opening their oversized red steel doors during Art Basel 2009 in the Wynwood Arts District, Cafeina has carved a niche for itself as an intimate den of bohemian-chic aesthetic and has helped lead a cultural revival in Wynwood, not unlike Manhattan's SoHo district, circa late 1960s. Executive Chef Matthew Goldberg heads Cafeina's studio-style kitchen, featuring an international tapas menu that offers delicious bites: Kobe Beef Sliders ($11), Tuna Tacos ($13) and jumbo lump meat Crab Cakes ($13). And mixologists are ready to create one of their signature cocktails just for you; favorites include the Café con Leche Martini ($10), Hot Passion ($10), and Cafeina's Old Fashioned ($12). As for the décor, dark woods and leather seating flank either side of the 1,560-square- foot lounge and mezzanine-styled space, which is lit by a rustic gold chandelier — creating a dark and sultry ambiance, while 34 MIAMI LIVING their spacious alfresco garden allows guests to enjoy the evening lounging under the stars. Adjacent to the main room is the Wynwood Exhibition Center, which cycles exhibitions monthly. Their weekly garden-and-gallery breakfast series "Brunch N' Bazaar" returns October 2, featuring a pop-up restaurant in the gallery that allows for indoor dining and an open-air market, curated by New York-based Launche Arte, with over 15 vendors showcasing a variety of products including: jewelry and accessories, vintage, fashion, floral, pastries and an international newsstand. Guests will feast on a newly designed menu that includes both health- conscious and hangover-cure selections, along with $20/two-hour unlimited mimosas. Chef Goldberg has created two distinct menus for the Wynwood lounge and gallery's first daytime series. The "Conscious" menu aims to indulge the healthy soul, offering refreshing brunch dishes including: Shrimp Ceviche, marinated with passion fruit, red pepper, jalapeno, cilantro, red onion and avocado; and Baked Apple-Cinnamon French Toast, made on whole wheat bread and served with seasonal berries. The "Hangover" selections, made to absorb the effects of one's pre- brunch vices, include hearty dishes, such as Pan-seared T-Bone Rib Eye, served with grilled asparagus, fried eggs and roasted tomato sauce; and The Boss Omelet, a combination of manchego cheese, ham, fresh tomato sauce and toast. Blueberry Ginger Bellini pitchers; Cute Cumber martinis, made with gin, St. Germain liqueur, lime juice and simple syrup; and the Bloody Maria, a south-of-the- border interpretation of the classic Bloody Mary, served with tequila and garden varietals will also be served up. Guests are encouraged to bring their pets and enjoy pet-friendly gourmet offerings including Lite Chicken & Veggies, served with brown rice, as well as Oatmeal Berries & Biscuits, made with whole wheat flower. Cafeina features live music on Thursdays and a mix of DJs on Fridays and Saturdays. 297 Northwest 23rd Street in the Wynwood Art District.
