SCOOP Miami Star Report Words by Martin Haro And here we go again – but before I get started on these Star Sightings, tell me: Are you having a good summer? And more importantly: Did you happen to see Tom Cruise out and about while he was in town shooting Rock of Ages? Alright, I will get to the Cruiseter in due time, but first…. Things really heated up in Miami after I crossed the last T and dotted the last I in my last dispatch, so whaddya say I pick up where I left off back in April because speaking of 305-style hotness, Miami Heat standout LeBron James was feted at Soho Beach House in Miami Beach as the new global brand ambassador for Audemars Piguet. And you know the guy was having a good end of the season there…. James' teammate Chris Bosh was there, of course, with then-fiancée-cum- wife Adrienne Williams (Bosh denied an April TMZ report about any nuptials, and I certainly cannot say that, as of press time, I had been invited to a wedding, so...), as were DJ Cassidy, Craig David, and Mike Piazza. Out in Miami proper, Travis Barker held an autograph-signing session on behalf of his album Give the Drummer Some at Dolphin Mall, while Gloria Estefan, the Magic City's honorary first lady turned up at the X Factor auditions at UM's BankUnited Center. Also turning up the heat – and then some! – at the AmericanAirlines Arena was Ricky Martin, who treated his fans to a crowd-pleasing show full of hits. Vivica A. Fox made a cameo at the opening of V·A·U·L·T on Lincoln Road, while John Stamos joined The Beach Boys on stage at the Filmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theater for the first annual Sounding Off for a Cure concert presented by Voices Against Brain Cancer. Gloria Gaynor also performed at the hot-ticket event, btw. The 4th Annual Nautica South Beach Triathlon drew out tri habitué Geoff Stults, as well as David Denman (TV's The Office), and The Biggest Loser's Ali Vincent. Meanwhile Jersey Shore star Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino exercised an entirely different set of muscles at Set, which Akon also hit to host a party, and Lil' Kim made an appearance at LIV at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach. Nicole Richie paid us a visit to promote her latest book, "Priceless" and her Winter Kate clothing line at Neiman Marcus at the Village of Merrick Park. Christina Milian, Ivan Sergei, Jamie- Lynn Sigler, Michael Yo, and the excellent Loren and JR Ridinger mingled at the draft party for the Rally for Kids with Cancer event at the Eden Roc Renaissance Miami Beach. The fundraiser's honorary co-chair, Eva Longoria, flew all night to be here in time for the traditional brunch before the start of the scavenger race, and hosted STAR SIGHTINGS In town to shoot Rock of Ages, Tom Cruise was spotted at the Miami Beach Marina on Father's Day weekend. 108 MIAMI LIVING Cameron Diaz promoted her Bad Teacher at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Jon Secada made a cameo at the Hatuey beer launch party at De Rodriguez Ocean on South Beach.
