EXCLUSIVE BEAUTY & THE BEACH ELLE Spa Opens in the Magic City Words by Martin Haro Celebrities are always in the know long before everyone else – it is one of the perks of being adored and known and spoiled. Well then call Miami a star then: Earlier this summer, the Magic City became the envy of every other American city when the very first ELLE Spa opened its doors at the Eden Roc Renaissance Miami Beach with…a few celebs in attendance, including TV actresses Joy Bryant (Parenthood) and Gillian Jacobs (Community), and a few Miami Housewives. The 22,000-square-foot ode to beauty, fabulousness, and relaxation marks an unprecedented partnership between ELLE magazine and the Eden Roc, one of Miami Beach's most legendary oceanfront properties. "We are thrilled to join forces with ELLE to offer a unique spa experience," said Greg Cook, the resort's general manager. Aside from the traditional services (like facials, mani/pedis, massages), the spa has a menu that offers its guests customized treatments and gotta-try-'em treatments like the 90-minute ELLE Spa Signature Facial or the 50-minute Doctor's Orders, an exfoli- facial that will leave you aglow with bright, rejuvenated skin. 78 MIAMI LIVING It is all about catering to the spa aficionado, after all. ELLE being the icon it is, its undeniable influence is felt everywhere, from the décor, which draws from the scenery of the gorgeous Mediterranean coastline (thinks high-coved ceilings, whitewashed walls, natural stone, water and wooden elements that create a calm and chic environment), to the products they use, chosen by skin and beauty experts like Yael Alkalay of Red Flower, Essie, and holistic medicine fan Tammy Fender. "Through a curated experience here we hope to engage guest in a key market and raise awareness of the core ELLE belief that fashion and beauty are intrinsically linked, indeed," said magazine senior VP and chief brand officer Robin Demoniconi. Aimee Teegarden (TV's Friday Night Lights) was "very excited" to be on hand for the grand opening party, which featured a performance by Rye Rye, a.k.a. the next Nicki Minaj, IMHO. "The spa's so open and airy," she said. "The treatments are fantastic. I got the most fantastic facial and I'm so not a facial girl, but they calmed all of my craziness down. I loved it." Marysol Patton, Adriana De Moura, and Alexia Echeverria, too, who I bet booked appointments as soon as they heard that Essie had developed custom colors to honor the spa's home: the exclusive neon-pink Eden and unmissable coral Roc. For more information on the ELLE Spa at the Eden Roc in Miami Beach, or to book your appointment, call 305-531-0000 or visit ellespamiami. ML Also loving the ELLE Spa? Model-turned- actress Jaime King, soon to be seen on The CW's Hart of Dixie. And why would she not be? The facility also features wet spa areas with hot whirlpools, cold plunges (per our weather), steam sauna, and hydro- experience showers, relaxation lounge, a boutique hair and nail salon, 24-hour beachfront fitness center, and a studio for group exercise. No wonder it is one of her summer musts – "I love the spa and Miami!" – along with Versace sunnies, Calvin Klein sandals, and vintage summer dresses. Everyone who went to the party was thoroughly impressed with the ELLE Spa, and I do mean everyone: I overheard Old Spice model-turned-actor Isaiah Mustafa gushing about the new hot spot.
