PEOPLE week later he sent this great groove with a wonderful melody and terrific guitar riffs and I said it was fabulous – but there were no lyrics and he writes lyrics. He said he felt it was right, but didn't know what it was saying. I thought I'd give it a shot. I thought about it for a long time before I put anything on paper and all of the sudden it wrote itself in thirty minutes. I felt that here I was doing this tribute to my dad, this was the third generation —Joe was always saying to me, It's too bad Grandpa Desi isn't still here because he was a guitarist too and I'd like to get his take on my music and play it for him, and it was my way of saying we're always still here in spirit." ML NOT YOUR AVERAGE COUNTRY/ WESTERN SHOW Taylor Swift's Speak Now Tour is More than Just a Concert Words by Raphael Caixeta Swift's Speak Now World Tour is more than just another country and western show —it's an extravaganza of light, costumes, sets, and changes. By far, one of the best concerts I've been to. As people began taking their seats, the stage was already set, but no one could see that. A large red theatrical curtain covered everything. A voice over announcement began things, setting the tone, and then the curtain lifted to reveal a huge, 9-piece band and then Taylor Swift herself in a golden- spangled flapper dress with bright red lipstick to match her oversized Gibson. The music started and before anyone could grasp what had been happening… half a dozen costume changes, fireworks, and flying trapeze artists had exploded onto the stage and set and then it was all over. Even now, days later, it's difficult to see If you missed the Taylor Swift concert at the BankAtlantic Center, you missed one of the best country music concert tours to come around since Reba in the 1990s. 72 MIAMI LIVING through the daze of the event. The multi- tiered balcony and stage had Swift moving all over the place, clearly visible in front of her band's all-black, Johnny Cash-like attire. Dancers and performers popped up, seemingly randomly but fitting the music, to do their thing and then just as quickly disappear. Swift's multiple talents were also on display. With every costume change, she seemed to make at least two instrument changes as well, ranging from electric guitar to ukulele, piano, banjo, acoustic guitar, including that beautiful Swarovski crystal guitar and more. The crowd was very much into the show, jumping up and down at her command, making noise, many stopping to breathlessly take a seat and try to ride it out and catch their wind. For a 21-year old, Taylor Swift is one of the biggest stars of the Country Music genre and this World Tour will definitely prove why to anyone who cares to find out.
