EXCLUSIVE TYLER SHIELDS ON A PERSONAL NOTE What is a common misconception of you or your work? Years ago, it used to be 'cause I never put any photos of myself up, people thought I was an old man. I have no idea why. When people would meet me they'd be like, 'I can't believe you're not old!' --that begot the joke that I'm really 500-years-old. I don't get that anymore, but it was funny back in the day. What can't you live without? A1 Steak Sauce. I have somewhere around 90 bottles in my house right now. I just like it. 40 MIAMI LIVING You ever photograph it? I've been waiting. I've been wanting to do something crazy with it. It just hasn't been the right situation for it. I just want a giant bathtub of it. Who would you like to work with that you haven't yet? That's tough, there are so many people, Jack Nicholson, Keira Knightley, Johnny Depp… Do you prefer black & white or color? It depends on what we're doing for sure. Sometimes that black and white, the intimacy is untouchable. Sometimes you need to see the blood splatter from someone's heart --it doesn't look quite as good in black & white. Are you more partial to photos or videos? "It's all the same to me, as long as we're creating something it doesn't really matter what camera I have in my hand. I run it all the same way.
