ON THE SCENE Contemporary artist, Monika Jensen, talks about her inimitable style of work For the Love of Art Words by Andrea Gallego International Contemporary Master Artist, Monika Jensen, is known worldwide for her style of art she calls "stereographic dimension." Her artwork has been published in several master books and displayed around the world. Specializing in commissioned works for an elite clientele of celebrities and large corporate clients, the founder of Stereographic Dimension and President of Monika Jensen Productions provides a distinctive style of art in which she describes as "feathered texture on canvas." Monika's interest in art was apparent at a very young age. In school, she accelerated in art studies with honors and was given opportunities to take advanced art courses. After graduation, she was accepted into Alberta College of Art, where her main focus was painting. In order to expand her horizons in the art field, she completed a degree in design at Mount Royal University. Monika's accomplishments include a scholarship in art, receipt of the "Steel Case Award" in design and graduating with honors. Her exceptional reputation allowed her to make her debut on the red carpet at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards, where she was "seated behind Lady Gaga and only a few seats down from Paul McCartney," she shared with excitement. Miami Living: Can you tell me about your journey as an artist? Monika Jensen: My background is in design. I have a degree in design and project managed multi-million-dollar projects for major corporate clients for twelve years prior to my art career. In 2007, I started Monika Jensen Productions and focused on art on a fulltime basis. My journey, as every artist knows, was a tough one, but now I am internationally known and have a huge clientele following. ML: What are you currently working on? 32 MIAMI LIVING MJ: I'm always working with designers and architects in creating one-of-a-kind pieces for their projects for individual homes, hotels or companies. I am also working on commissioned pieces for a designed home that will be showcased in Architectural Digest. And I am also exhibiting art in Italy, Canada, New York, and Florida. ML: What is the most unique project that you are working on now? MJ: I have many projects that I am working on right now. One of the things I am working on is taking my stereographic style and creating original paintings with sports team logos and corporate client logos. What better way to combine two different concepts --arts and sports!? I feel this gives positive publicity and interest to the sports teams and also can be valued as a collector's piece. ML: Why do you think you have been so successful in such a short period of time? MJ: I have a product that is unique and desirable. Most clients, after purchasing a piece, buy another one. The reason being is that my work is not only a three-dimensional sculpture on their wall, but also a conversation maker, and clients love having something unique. ML: Tell me about your exhibit and the work featured. MJ: Every piece is an original and will not be replicated for mass production. As my pieces take a year to cure, due to its thickness of oil paint, clients appreciate a high-quality product and don't mind the wait. Art is an investment as well as an intricate decorative piece in a home. My clients know that their art portfolio increases on a continuous basis with my worldwide reputation.
