SCOOP Shakira went jet skiing over Christmas. Catherine Zeta-Jones & Michael Douglas got into the Art Basel Miami Beach swing of things, hitting the PULSE Miami brunch. 2011/Spring 2012 eponymous collection at Neiman Marcus in Bal Harbour. Dita Von Teese vamped it up for the launch of My Cointreau Travel Essentials at the Mondrian South Beach. Pharrell put on his host-with-the-most pants to host a cocktail reception for the Soledad O'Brien & Brad Raymond Foundation at a posh private residence (remember, that's PPR for short), which, of course, drew out Soledad O'Brien, as well as Lea and Roy Black. Taye Diggs and Mario Lopez held court at LIV, and if memory serves, Lopez joined BFF Eva Longoria…somewhere on SoBe for a low-key dinner since the actress herself kept a low profile on that particular visit to the Magic City. Anyway, Diggs also was spotted at Wall at the W South Beach, partying with Formula One racecar driver Jenson Button. LIV served as the setting for yet another celebirthday, this time Fabolous'. Caroline Manzo and Jacqueline Laurita from Real Housewives of New Jersey made an appearance at the Hotel Breakwater to support Albie Manzo as he launched blk.Water in town. That gorgeous creature known as supermodel Jessica White struck a pose out on the beach. And then, right around Thanksgiving, will.i.am and DJ Ruckus held court at – yeah, you guessed it – LIV. The former was in town to perform with the Peas at Sun Life Stadium. Not to be outdone, Mansion lured another birthday away from the 'bleau MVP as DJ Khaled celebrated his birthday there. Speaking of the resort (yet again), Ricky Martin helped Michael Yo celebrate his first decade with Y-100 FM by performing a beyond-crowd-pleasing set for a few hundred of the latter's closet friends, while, at LIV, Diddy hung out with friends of his ownsies, including Miami's very own comeback kid, Chris Paciello, and Jonathan Cheban and Scott Disick worked the room. Oh, and then it was Basel time. December rolled in with a flurry of high- profile celebs, including Adrien Brody, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and...Paris and Nicky Hilton. You guys, it's not even funny how like, massive this once-four-day weekend affair has gotten – everything gets going a day earlier every year. Trust, Basel 2012 is kicking off a full week Paris Hilton showed up pretty much everywhere during Basel, including Wall at the W South Beach. ahead of the fair's official Day 1. Btw, during the members' preview of the 2011 edition, I spotted Diddy, Pharrell, and Stefano Tonchi from W at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Party-wise, Ferrari kicked off things at the 1111 Building on Lincoln Road, to present the latest Ferrari 458 Italia Spider, at which Solange Knowles DJd and Janelle Monáe performed. Among those star-sighted: Macy Gray, Val Kilmer, DJ Irie, Enrique Murciano, and Flo Rida. The Vanity Fair/MOCA drew out Basel habitués like Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, photographer Bruce Weber, Julian Schnabel, and Ingrid Sischy. Brody and the Hiltons rubbed elbows with Naomi Campbell, Wendi Murdoch, and Simon Huck at the Artsy Party at Soho Beach House, while a Who's Who attended the Art of Night opening at the revamped Shelborne South Beach to celebrate Seth Browarnik's nightlife photographic work, including the Blacks, Susanne Bartsch, Keith Menin, Kyle McLachlan, Jorge Perez, Lee Schrager, David Barton, Paul Sevigny, Ivana Trump, and Gabrielle Union. Meanwhile, Timbaland made the scene at The Betsy Hotel for an illy event; Jane Seymour checked out the ELLE Décor showroom at the Paramount Bay; and the MIAMI LIVING 109
