MUSIC On the Waterfront Bayfront Park houses an ULTRA music explosion Words by Claudia Paredes • Photo Credit Ian Witlen House and electronic music fans have been waiting for this tremendous event for an entire year, and on March 23rd ULTRA Music Festival (UMF) will take Miami by storm once again. You have not been to a dance festival until you have experienced ULTRA. The hype surrounding it is massive –prompting people to purchase their three day pass months in advance (in the beginning of January the event was already 90% sold out). Last year, there were more than 300 world-renowned artists performing on 27 stages over the course of three days. This year the event will be just as outrageous. From March 23rd to March 27th, there will be an ongoing party on the waterfront in downtown Miami. Taking place in the beautiful Bayfront Park, attendees can dance under the sun (or moonlight) and enjoy the lush scenic landscape whilst listening to their favorite DJs spin. This new location provides an expanded footprint that will definitely accommodate the expected increased capacity this year. The event is expecting over 150,000 attendees all coming from 71 countries and all US territories. And with that many fans attending, tickets are expected to sell out 2 months before the big event, so get them now, before they are all gone. You do not want to miss this. Tons of intricate preparations go into bringing to life this unique, ultra dance experience. Technicians must ensure that all the lighting, sound, and 3-D displays work properly on the 27 stages onsite. The Ultra Main Stage will blow your mind. Here, the biggest names in music have performed: Tiësto, David Guetta, Afrojack, Kaskade, among others. The central core of the festival is covered in LED lights, has the signature plumes of pyro and CO2 that make the ULTRA Music Festival an unforgettable experience. It is impossible for the city of Miami to escape the ULTRA madness. The festival lures in the masses from all over the country, as well as locals, who are ready to party. It can get a bit chaotic in town during those days, which is why the Magic City is well prepared with 200 police officers and 300 security personnel working the event. Law enforcement presence is visible on foot, bicycles, at the front entrance and park perimeters. In addition, firefighters and paramedics are onsite for everyone's safety. THE LINE-UP ULTRA presents many new acts, as well as past favorites this year. On Friday March 23rd come dance and party to the catchy beats of Tiësto, Kraftwerk, Carl Cox, Skrillex, Afrojack, Miike Snow, Pretty Lights, New Order, Groove Armada (DJ Set), Dirty South, Loco Dice, A-Trak, Dada Life, Porter Robinson, Neon Indian, Jack Beats, Chris Lake, Michael Woods, Nicky Romero, Tommy Trash, Katy B, DJ Icey, The Knocks, Afrobeta, and Jon Rundell. On Saturday March 24th don't miss performances by Justice, Avicii, Fatboy Slim, Duck Sauce, M83, Sven Väth, Carl Cox, Laidback Luke, 2manydjs, Flux Pavilion, Borgore, Doctor P, Metronomy, Little Dragon, Hardwell, Datsik, Andy C, Zeds Dead, 12th Planet, Magda, Skream + Benga, Zedd, Mord Fustang, Cedric Gervais, Netsky, High Contrast, Mt. Eden, Camo & Krooked, Big Chocolate, Carbon Airways, and Yousef. And on Sunday March 25th , come see David Guetta, Armin Van Buuren, Kaskade, Bassnectar, Chase and Status (Live), The Bloody Beetroots (DJ Set), Fedde Le Grand, Knife Party, Magnetic Man, John Digweed, MIAMILIVING 51
