TECH Modernize Your Spring Cleaning Process with These Tips Spring Cleaning for the Tech Junkie Words by Craig Agranoff Every spring, we like to renew by cleaning out our homes and offices to make way for a new year. It's an instinctual part of our nature, this spring cleaning thing, probably harking back to a scrubbing of the nest to make way for an expanding family. Male or female, the nesting instinct is strong. Even tech junkies have it. Sure, maybe your nest includes a smartphone instead of flint and steel, or a drawer full of charging cords instead of rope, but the idea is the same. Just because we're modern, gadget-laden and know that the earth is round, doesn't mean we've changed all that much. Alright, maybe we don't hit people on the head with sticks and drag them back to our caves by their hair anymore – we've evolved to alcohol and climate- controlled homes now – but spring is in the air and deep down, we all want to clean up and start fresh. To do that in today's world, though, we can't just grab a trusty branch and sweep the rubble out of our caves. We need modern tools for modern cleanup. So, what tools are best for the job? Lucky for you, this tech junkie knows and is about to share. First, get rid of the cords. Charging all of your gadgets with cords is totally twentieth century lame. Instead, replace them with an inductive charger. Energizer makes one with Qi-enabled charging, fitting the world standard in inductive charging. Older devices will need sleeves, but if you're a true tech junkie, you have all the latest and greatest. Right? Of course, if you also need a charger at the office, but only for business tools like your iPhone and/or iPad (surely you have both?!), there's the XtremeMac InCharge Duo. A great choice, this one lets you plug both your devices in to a single stand and has a charge indicator to make it KISS. One more charging item: your mouse. You have a Magic Mouse, right? Of course you do. So you'll need a Mobee Magic Charger to go with it. This awesome little device plugs into a USB port and charges your mouse wirelessly. Next, it's time to re-organize your on- the-go bag. You know, that briefcase you carry around or (worse) that lame backpack from college you still lug about. Dump that for a chic bag from Ful. The Dean is a great option; not too large, not too small, and it's unisex, so man or woman, it's a great choice. Plenty of pockets and useful stash spots for everything from your laptop to your Dasani bottle. Don't forget the actual cleanup. Obviously, you don't want some huge domestic appliance hogging up your space, so you'll want something small, preferably cordless, but still powerful. How about the Dyson Digital Slim? It's a great vacuum with a long-reach wand to make it an upright without the look of one. Plus, with its crazy futuristic appearance, it won't be out of place in your hi-tech pad or office. Use these great tech tools to clean up your act and jump into spring. Pasty skin and Missing-In-Action beach body? That, my friend, is a whole other matter. ML MIAMI LIVING 81
