JUST OPENED Just Opened Check out these places that have recently opened near you! Words by Matthew Weeks BLO Brickell 900 S Miami Ave, Unit 129 Miami, FL 33130 (305) 374-BLO5 (2565) Blomedry.com Now ladies, imagine you've got the perfect outfit for a night out in luxurious Brickell. In addition to shoes and accessories, the only thing remaining to seal your style is a quick blowout that will leave everyone turning their heads your way. If that scenario sounds familiar, then you should stop by BLO. No cuts, no color, no trims or tweaks, they solely specialize in blowouts. Offering seven different options, clients can choose from "Executive Sweet" to "Sex, Hugs and Rock & Roll." BLO Midtown 3301 NE 1 Ave, Suite 102 Miami, FL 33137 (786) 373-5BLO (5256) Blomedry.com Whoever came up with BLO's advertising campaign – "You're not cheating on your hairdresser" should be paid the big bucks! Not only is that an extremely memorable catchphrase but it's also 100% truthful. Coifing catwalk curls for the past five years, BLO offers a professional alternative to the stresses and aggravations that coincide with blow drying your own hair. Once inside their Midtown studio, make sure to study up on Blocabulary… They have special BLO names for just about everything! Hotel Breakwater 940 Ocean Dr Miami Beach, FL 33139 (305) 532-2362 Breakwatersouthbeach.com Looking for a place to relax before the hype of summer? If yes, then you should unequivocally stay at Hotel Breakwater. Located just steps away from serene Atlantic waves on Ocean Drive, this ultra hip and modern resort offers amenities such as a wellness garden, fitness center, rooftop lounge, two delectable restaurants and around-the- clock concierge service. Hotel Breakwater offers several incredible room types; outfitted in white and trimmed with color to represent SoBe's best. Juvia Restaurant 1111 Lincoln Rd Miami Beach, FL 33139 (305) 763-8272 Juviamiami.com In my opinion, Juvia Restaurant possesses the best view in South Beach. Alright, if not the best, then definitely in the top three. Located on the penthouse level of 1111 Lincoln Road, Juvia overlooks panoramic views of both the Atlantic Ocean and Art Deco District. Now to the food, their menu includes everything from cold smoked scallops with Bloody Mary espuma to Chilean sea bass with maple glazed eggplant. Lunch (12pm–3:30pm) averages $25 (pp) while dinner (6pm–1am) is $70 (pp). Marlins Ballpark 501 Marlins Way Miami, FL 33125 (877) MAR-LINS Miami.marlins.mlb.com It's finally time to make history. The Miami Marlins opened their beautiful, brand new, state-of- the-art facility against the World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals on April 4, 2012. Even if you're not a die-hard baseball fan, you can head straight to the stadium's South Beach Clevelander section, where drinks, DJs, and dips in the pool are all the rage. And if their redesigned Art Deco uniforms don't steal your attention, surely the high-flying Marlins, neon flamingos and built-in aquariums will! Rocco's Tacos & Tequila Bar 5090 PGA Blvd Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33418 (561) 623-0127 RoccosTacos.com Previously established in West Palm Beach, Boca Raton and Fort Lauderdale, Rocco's Tacos & Tequila Bar has recently expanded to Palm Beach Gardens. If you've never visited any of their locations, you'll be amazed by their homemade guacamole (prepared tableside) and 225+ types of tequila. Signature lunch and dinner items include the Wet Burrito Con Rojo, Chile Rellenos and Molcajete Carne. After dining here, it's difficult to believe that Mexico is located across the Gulf. Stéphane's Restaurant & Lounge 2006 NW Executive Center Circle Boca Raton, FL 33431 (561) 893-8838 Stephanesrestaurant.com It's difficult to argue Stéphane's philosophy — "in order to live well, one must eat well" — which is wholly embraced at his French-American restaurant & lounge. Everything from the seasonal oysters, Florida stone or Irish crab claws, Maine lobsters and split king crab legs taste as fresh as the oceans they originated from before they sparkle on your plate. After you've fallen in love with Stéphane's spectacular variety of seafood, you'll no doubt, harbor an afterglow for his countless wines, champagnes and beers. Yardbird – Southern Table & Bar 1600 Lenox Ave Miami Beach, FL 33139 (305) 538-5220 Runchickenrun.com As soon as you devour Yardbird's fine-fried chicken with spicy Tupelo honey and citrus pepper watermelon, you'll understand why this establishment is a semi-finalist for the Best New Restaurant and Best Chef (South) for the James Beard Foundation Award for Excellence. Especially, if you're someone from the South or simply enjoy southern hospitality, then this place is for you. My recommendations include their sweet tea-brined ribs, muffaletta sandwich and a glimmering glass of Faulkner's Lady. MIAMI LIVING 25
