EXCLUSIVE so much to offer? We've found your next staycation spot Words by Martin Haro The area south of Fifth Street on Miami Beach's South Beach is bustling with excitement – and whether you're coming to town for business or pleasure, you should definitely look into staying / eating / relaxing / networking / partying there. The options are surprisingly plentiful for such a relatively small and beautiful area on an island so full of possibilities. Trust. So I decided to put on my traveling pants and explore as if I was a jetsetter popping onto SoBe for a quick trip. My journey included a quite fantastic meal, a great night's sleep, a run-in with an up-and- coming actor, two ladies working me, and an on-the-terrace delicious burger with a bottle of bubbles all to myself. That's how the other half lives, right? 4:30 p.m. Drink(s) at Monty's South Beach maybe I'll go jet skiing. Then I remember I'm not fond of the speed-water combo. It's nice to have the option, though. 6 p.m. Check in at the Hilton Bentley South Beach fall's most anticipated shows. Which brings me to Isaiah Mustafa, a.k.a. the Old Spice guy. I quite literally ran into the up-and-coming actor by the hotel's elevator while he used the ATM. He was in the Magic City to shoot his guest turn on TV's Charlie's Angels, and he was staying at the HBB. (The Hilton Bentley Beach – not just for Kardashians!) 8:22 p.m. Delicious dish at De Rodriguez Cuba on Ocean 21 Hours Down on SoFi Why leave town when this city has Make that check in at the AAA 2012 Four Diamond Lodging Award- I stop for a piña colada – or three, actually – at my favorite piña colada spot down in the area, which is right at the Miami Beach Marina. I keep hoping to spot a star (TomKat had just been seen hoping onto a yacht there…), but instead I settle for hot people jogging and boaters doing, y' know, hot boat stuff. It's a good thing. After my drinks (here's a tip: alternate two glasses of water in between), I go for a quick walk, to let the drinks simma, and pop into American WaterSports SB. I think 78 MIAMI LIVING winning Hilton Bentley South Beach, down on First and Ocean Drive (you may know it from Keeping Up with the Kardashians – Kim & Co. lived up in the penthouse). My sweet suite's on the sixth floor and has views of the beach, the towers at the south end of the island, and the very beginning of Ocean Drive. And it. Is. Terrif! It's got all the amenities: a small but fully equipped kitchen, a comfy living room, a big bedroom with a big bed, and a bathroom that I could do pirouettes in – I swear to ya. It occurs to me it's the perfect room for a transient occupant…you know, like a businessperson in town for a hot sec, or an actor shooting a guest turn in one of the I'm late for dinner. It's actually not my fault – no, I haven't broken into the bubbles I found in my room
