It has three buildings of artist's studios, exhibitions, and educational programs to support and promote emerging artists. In the Fine Arts Building, you'll find paintings, photography, and mosaics. The Crafts Building features fabric design and jewelry, while the Sculpture Space boasts pieces in wood, bronze and stone. Tuesday-Friday: 10am-6pm. The gallery has a momentous and unique collection of international works, including pieces by Dutch painter, Karel Appel. The complex boasts several galleries, 70 artist studios, classrooms, and an assortment of technical facilities, including a print lab and dark room. Miami Ave. | Miami (305) 573-2700 | bernicesteinbaumgallery.com New York art-scene veteran, Bernice Steinbaum, whose gallery was named by Miami New Times as the "Best in Town", has presented Miami with a fine selection of emerging and acclaimed contemporary artists for several years now. Some of the artists featured are Edouard Duval-Carrie, Glexis Novoa, and Peter Sarkisian. Her emphasis is on diversity as women make-up half of her artists and 35% are "artists of color." The pieces are as diverse as Miami is, with arts ranging from black and white photography to ceramics to abstract paintings. The last Friday of the month from May to October the gallery honors a new artist and hosts a celebratory evening that features live music, poetry, and a taste of Caribbean cuisine. It offers exhibition space, artist's studios, hosts shows, as well as various cultural events, including concerts and lectures.
