The separation between rooms is useful for people traveling together, too. One guest can get ready for the day while another has coffee or catches up on work in the living area. It is a simple distinction, but one that gives each person more freedom to follow their own schedule. The interiors pair neutral tones with touches of color, while floor-to-ceiling windows bring in natural light. Rainfall showers, pillow-top mattresses, and other in-room comforts add to the experience. Select suites have private balconies; the Skyline suites look toward the surrounding West Avenue neighborhood and the Miami skyline. ABAE’s lobby also has a connection to the arts. A permanent wire installation by artist Lisa Soto, Here Comes The Rain (2014), is on view there. Upstairs, the rooftop pool and sundeck offer another place to spend time at the hotel. Landscaping lends the deck a sense of privacy, and the pool includes underwater speakers and hydro-massage jets. Guests can make a morning of it, stop by after a day at the beach, or take a break before going out for the evening. At street level, JOE & THE JUICE offers coffee, breakfast, lunch, and fresh beverages. Beyond the hotel, Lincoln Road’s shops and restaurants are a few blocks away. Alton Road is close by, while Ocean Drive and the Art Deco architecture associated with South Beach are less than a mile from the property. ABAE’s location lets guests enjoy those well-known parts of Miami Beach while returning to the quieter West Avenue neighborhood. That combination is particularly useful during Miami Art Week, when a day might involve fairs, exhibitions, meetings, and dinners in different parts of the city. A suite with a separate living area gives visitors space to regroup between plans. The same flexibility matters outside Art Week: ABAE works just as well for travelers who want to fill their days in Miami as it does for those who prefer to leave parts of the itinerary open.
