From Pool to Wellness Retreat Diamond Spas designs custom pools and spas as part of the home’s architecture rather than as separate backyard features. The company works with architects, designers and homeowners to create vessels based on the property’s space, views and intended use. Its portfolio includes stainless-steel, copper, glass and acrylic pools and spas, as well as rooftop pools, elevated spas, plunge pools and multifunctional swim spas. As Mitchell Martinek, Design Manager at Diamond Spas, told Miami Living, “Clients now view pools and spas as personal wellness retreats rather than occasional luxury features. They want calm, restorative spaces designed for daily use.” That shift is reflected in features such as hydrotherapy seating, swim currents, temperature-controlled spas, benches and sun shelves, allowing the pool or spa to support different aspects of daily wellness. Personalized Design For Diamond Spas, personalization begins with the architecture. A pool can be designed around a view, integrated into a rooftop terrace or positioned alongside an outdoor kitchen and lounge area. Its custom approach allows the size, shape, materials and features to respond to how the homeowner plans to use the space. Material selection is another part of that process. Diamond Spas uses stainless steel for many projects because of its durability, relatively low weight compared with concrete and flexibility for complex installations, including rooftops and elevated terraces. Copper provides a different architectural finish, while acrylic and glass can maintain views and create visual connections between the water and surrounding spaces. Compact Wellness Diamond Spas has seen growing interest in compact plunge pools and multifunctional systems that can serve as both a pool and spa. Swim jets can add an exercise component without requiring a large swimming area. As Martinek explains, “These compact pools can double as a spa in the winter and a pool in the summer, with features like swim jets for exercise.” For homeowners with limited space, the approach allows one installation to support exercise, recovery and relaxation while serving as part of the property’s overall design. Smart Living Technology is another part of Diamond Spas’ approach. The company can integrate pool and spa equipment with a home’s network or automation system, allowing owners to monitor and manage systems remotely. This is particularly useful for second homes and vacation properties. Diamond Spas’ focus on automation reflects a broader shift in luxury design: convenience is becoming as important as appearance.
