the historic architecture. Organic shapes, arched doorways, geometric details, and a warm desert color palette of pink, rust, and sand create a comfortable, luxe space for the residents. “Beyond aesthetics, every choice was made with longevity in mind,” said the homeowner. “I wanted materials that would never feel dated – elements that feel elegant today but also have the ability to transcend generations and continue to belong in the language of design over time.” Through careful construction coordination, Studio Rodrigo Buelvas was able to increase the home’s value and find solutions without compromising the design intent and the client’s vision. The entire house was re-designed and engineered to be more efficient and sustainable, including new electrical, water and mechanical systems. “From the very beginning, Studio Rodrigo Buelvas believed in the vision and in the possibility of bringing this project to life while honoring the essence of the home. Their deep understanding of art, craftsmanship, and the value of original details was truly the key to enhancing what was already there,” said the homeowner. “They understood how deeply connected I was to the house and how much I admired it for what it was.” The homeowners sought to not only be at home but to be in a comfortable sanctuary where they can connect with natural elements and lush surroundings. Every space in the home incorporates materials that evoke a feeling of being in nature. Combined with the expanded views of the surrounding landscape and addition of outdoor living spaces, the connection between indoors and outdoors feels seamless. “Every day, as I move through the house, I am still in awe that I get to live in this hidden gem,” said the homeowner. “The tranquility created by the materials, textures, and color palette gives the home an almost meditative quality – it feels peaceful, grounded, and reminiscent of a monastery.” This thoughtful renovation celebrates the home’s architectural history with a contemporary perspective, resulting in a design that is leisurely, nonchalant tropical elegance. Studio Rodrigo Buelvas created a disco-luxe style interior with a desert palette that hearkens to Palm Springs-style modern design, but with a contemporary approach.
