Having lived in five states and most recently from Chicago, Illinois, Eric brings a displaced perspective to Miami Living. With the magazine for well over a year now, Eric manages ML's "Just Opened" and "A Report Card" sections, in addition to his feature writing contributions. An avid restaurant enthusiast, he especially enjoys critiquing the South Florida dining scene. Outside of Miami Living, Eric applies his journalistic abilities to his business, Redletter (www.redletterpr.com), a full service public relations and marketing firm. Producing stories as a writer, blogging about industry trends, and serving up pitches to journalists on a daily basis, Eric proudly touts himself as a professional media junky. "The media is exciting," he states. "Whether telling your own story or contributing to someone else's, you're always in the center of it all, working to produce tomorrow's headlines." In his off time, Eric enjoys traveling and taking in the outdoors. "Stepping out of your comfort zone to experience something new is like a refresher course on life. Only then can your eyes be truly open," he explains. "It's a lot like writing in a way … removing yourself from a situation to objectively take it in, only to reminisce on it later." In 2008, Eric was recognized by the Public Relations Society of America at its Annual Creative PR Awards for his work in South Florida. Eric graduated from Southern Illinois University where he earned a BA in Mass Communication with a dual emphasis in Public Relations and Journalism. ERIC HALEY WRITER "A Jersey Girl doesn't have to have a high-powered career, but whatever work she does, she gives it her all— and she takes care of her family at the same time. The overall makeup, if you will, of a true Jersey Girl: hard-working, family-oriented, spirited, one of a kind. And if you're lucky, she's yours." —The Star Ledger Carly is from Princeton, New Jersey, where she attended Princeton Day School and Varsity lettered in field hockey, basketball, and lacrosse. She attends Boston University and will graduate in May of 2009 with a degree in Public Relations from the College of Communication, and a minor in Art History from the College of Arts and Sciences. Carly has a variety of interests, including the arts and sports. While at BU, she held many internships at various companies including the Boston Athletic Association and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. For the past two years, she was the Vice President of Operations of her sorority, Alpha Epsilon Phi, and attended the past two national conventions. She has also been involved in the Public Relations Student Society of America, Edward L. Bernays Chapter at BU. Last year, Carly was joined by both of her younger twin sisters at Boston University and in her sorority. She frequently invites her sisters over for "family dinners," where she cooks her favorite foods in her Brookline apartment. Carly plans to make the most of her last few months in Boston before her graduation. This summer she plans to see where the road may take her on her path to a career. CARLY CROUSE INTERN 18 MIAMI LIVING Contributors Born and raised in Boston, Jessica parlayed her degree in the literature of Victorian England into a career in accounting at Miami Living. Don't ask her how she did it. She tries to fill every waking moment in her life with music, from the time she begrudgingly answers the alarm clock until the time she forces herself to go to bed at 1 a.m. She wrote a popular local music column for her college newspaper, which led to everything from working backstage for Phish to having her own love song written about her. Jessica is lucky enough to count her brother and sister as her two best friends, and many nights can be found hanging out with her siblings, speaking almost entirely in quotations from Arrested Development and 30 Rock, while they try (and usually fail) to recreate their mother's recipes. In between updating her Twitter feed and compulsively checking her text messages, Jessica's other passions include buying way too many pairs of shoes, finding inspiration in the diaries of Anais Nin, Mark Ryden paintings, and collecting more Hello Kitty knick-knacks than any one person has a right to own. Her summer plans include staying out of the sun as much as possible and vacationing on the shores of Lake Michigan. Like most 20-something English majors, Jessica is currently at work on her first novel. JESSICA ACKERMAN ACCOUNTING Kerry Dussault currently attends Framingham State College, has made dean's list and president's list status throughout her four years, and this year was elected to Who's Who in American Universities. Kerry is majoring in corporate communications and studied abroad in Australia at Bond University on the Gold Coast from January– May, 2008. While studying in Australia, she also visited New Zealand and the Fiji Islands. Among her many adventures abroad she went sky diving, water surfing, sand surfing, whitewater rafting, cave exploring, and enjoyed meeting many wonderful people. Kerry was born and raised in Billerica, Massachusetts. Her hobbies include dancing, snowboarding, and traveling anywhere and everywhere. She currently has a trip planned to Paris and Spain for spring break and will be traveling to Las Vegas and San Diego in June. Kerry is currently working two part-time jobs at the Met Bar and Grill in Natick, and at the AMC movie theatre in Burlington. Kerry's true passion is dancing. She's taken dance classes since the age of three, in jazz, ballet, tap, and lyric. She is currently part of the Framingham State College dance team "Fusion," and choreographs many of the dances. She has performed at the Boston Celtics games and numerous shows throughout her four years in college. Kerry will graduate from Framingham State College in May, 2009, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications, and hopes to attend the Disney College Program in Florida from August to January, 2010.
