Josh looks for beauty every time he looks through his camera. It's not just his job, it's what he loves. Josh was born and raised in Norwood, N.C., where life "kind of led me to photography. I worked on my high school's yearbook my junior and senior year. I always was more of an observer, I guess, but not in a creepy way." When he went away to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he chose photojournalism as a major. In 2003, he moved to Miami Beach to attend the Miami Ad School. Soon after that, he began booking jobs with 1dibs.com, an antique furniture store à la Ebay, Shiraz, a local catering company, and now Miami Living. Josh's experience also includes photographic gigs for several of South Beach's top model agencies, including Irene Marie, Next, and Wilhelmina Models. "I like working and living in Miami," he says. "It's got beautiful weather, beautiful people, and beautiful light and backdrops. I'm all about it. But I'm also about the beauty that's not so obvious and expected. I prefer it, actually." JOSH GADDY PHOTOGRAPHER Mark was born and raised in Boston— and is devoted to all Beantown sports teams including the Red Sox, Pats, Celtics, and Bruins. He joined Miami Living as ad sales rep last year after working in his family's business (periodical subscription service for libraries) for the last several years. In the near-future he hopes to realize a longtime dream of opening his own smoothie shop. And though work keeps him hopping, it's his role as a single father of a nine-year-old boy named Max (who took this photo of his Dad) that is his true passion. "I've coached his Pop Warner football team for the last three years and I'm looking forward to doing the same over the next few years." The two manage to get in plenty of male bonding time, between playing sports, going to the movies, and hitting the beaches. "Nothing comes close to being a Dad and I cherish every minute I have with him!" Mark's other passions include sushi and Italian cuisine—and music. He admits to being a Grateful Dead tour vet, however he also digs music from all genres: "everything from A Tribe Called Quest to Zeppelin." He has strong connections to the Miami area and has been frequenting the Magic City since the mid-80s. "My Dad lives in Aventura and I try to visit as much as possible. I love Miami: the sunshine and delicious food, along with family and friends." And while Mark enjoys the change of seasons in New England, he will gladly take being poolside with his iPod, a book, and cold drink. MARK COHEN ADVERTISING SALES 18 MIAMI LIVING Contributors "Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path, and leave a trail." —Ralph Waldo Emerson Whether she is co-piloting a small plane through Mexico, embarking on a monthlong camping excursion through Hawaii, or spending the summer studying abroad and exploring new territory overseas, Jamie is always ready for a new adventure. Next on her list: backpacking through the European cities she missed her first time around. Although she spent the majority of her childhood in Providence, Rhode Island, this Miami-born native has proven herself worthy of calling the Magic City her hometown by keeping the high energy it's known for with her wherever life takes her. As a recent graduate from Boston University with a BS in Public Relations and a minor in psychology, Jamie is in the midst of her biggest adventure yet: taking on the "real world". And while leaving behind the comforts of life as a college coed can be daunting, Jamie isn't worried about the road ahead. Aside from her position at Miami Living, Jamie is currently dancing for two professional hip-hop teams in Boston: Static Noyze Dance Company and Hip-Hop Connxion. Dance has always been one of her passions and a favorite way to relieve stress from her on-the-go lifestyle. After recently receiving an invitation to try out for the New England Patriot Cheerleaders, it seems as though adding just one more thing to her schedule won't slow her down anytime soon—especially if that means another adrenaline- pumping challenge for one of her favorite sports teams! JAMIE FRANKENBERG BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT "If a celebrity falls flat on his/her face walking into a club, and no one is around to see it, did they really fall?" That is one of the questions Miami Living senior writer, Us Weekly reporter, and self-appointed "Desk SoBe" for E! Online, Martin Haro considers on a daily basis—and one that he is not too curious to answer. "I go out and stay up late instead of staying at home with my TiVo because I really don't want to find that out," he says. "It doesn't hurt that Miami truly is the Magic City, and that it has amazing places, nightlife, and food I get to enjoy on a regular basis." Born and raised in Lima, Peru, Haro has lived in Miami and Miami Beach for almost eight years. Here he has met "lifelong friends that I really wouldn't trade for a slice of chocolate cake (do not offer me seven, though)." "I've gotten paid to go to the movies, and write about it. How cool is that?" he says. "I've met and interviewed a lot of cool people, like Jenny McCarthy, Debbie Harry, Terrence Howard, and Robert Buckley, who's a cutie and a half, and Jessica Szohr from Gossip Girl, and Gwyneth frakkin' Paltrow, who was just the nicest thing." Haro's experience includes a four-year stint as a writer and a copy editor at Wire, four years at ML, with this issue, and three years at Florida International University, where he is associate editor of FIU Magazine. And he keeps a blog, moviemartin.blogspot.com, where shares his take on all things pop culture. MARTIN HARO SENIOR WRITER
