It has a skate park, sailing program for juniors, dog park, picnic shelters and The Bill Graham Farm Village. A re-creation of the early pioneer homesteads, the village features a barn with petting zoo, a shed for demonstrations like horseshoeing, country store, boiling shed and sugar cane press. This journey back in time is educational and fun. Sunrise to sunset. No admission fee, but you may be charged for some of the amenities. GOLD COAST RAILROAD MUSEUM 12450 SW 152nd St. | Cutler Ridge (305) 253-0063 | goldcoast-railroad.org Situated on half a mile of rail, this museum highlights the history and preservation of historic railroad equipment. Historical cars are on display like the Ferdinand Magellan, which has served past presidents such as Franklin D. Roosevelt and Harry Truman. Children can hop aboard the Edwin Link Children's Railroad for a 20-minute ride on the 2-feet gauge track. Weekdays: 10am-4pm Weekends: 11am-4pm 12 & up $5, 12 and under $3. HISTORICAL MUSEUM OF SOUTH FLORIDA 101 West Flagler St. | Miami (305) 375-1492 hmsf.org The history of South Florida as well as that of Florida's closest neighbor, the Caribbean, is found right here. With various exhibits running throughout the year, visitors can learn and view photos of the south's past. Monday-Saturday: 10am to 5pm Sundays: 12pm-5pm Every third Thursday open until 9pm Adults: $5 Seniors/College kids: $4 Children 6-12: $2 LUCKY STRIKE 1691 Michigan Ave. | Miami Beach (305) 532-0307 | bowlluckystrike.com This hip, old-Hollywood bowling alley has a cool vibe. Within the 15,000 square feet, there are 14 lanes, a bar/lounge, and restaurant serving up great food. Plan your next party here or come for some weekend fun. Sunday-Thursday: 11:30pm-3am. Friday and Saturday. Prices start at $5.95 a game. MIAMI CHILDREN'S MUSEUM 980 MacArthur Cswy | Miami (305) 373-5437 | miamichildrensmuseum.org Spread out over 56,500 square feet is 12 galleries, classrooms, a research center, gift shop and Subway restaurant. Fraught with interactive activities, programs, exhibitions and classes, children will have a blast learning all sorts of skills like cooking, fashion design and digital photography. Daily: 10am-6pm. Children under 12 are free. And others $10. MIAMI METROZOO 12400 SW 152nd | Cutler Ridge (305) 251-0400 | miamimetrozoo.com When is the last time you brought the kids to the zoo? Spend the day rediscovering the incredible animals here-- tigers, monkeys, White-handed Gibbons, a Tree Kangaroo, an elephant that paints, and more. 365 days a year. 9:30am-5:30 pm (ticket booths close at 4pm) Adults: $11.50, Kids under 12: $6.75 MIAMI SEAQUARIAM 4400 Rickenbacker Cswy | Key Biscayne (305) 361-5705 | miamiseaquarium.com The 38-acre area is home to marine life such as dolphins, whales, sea lions among others. Come see one of their 8 different water shows, where expertly-trained animals perform. And the best part about this place is you can swim with the dolphins! Open: 9:30am-6pm. MICCOSUKEE INDIAN VILLAGE Mile Marker 70, US 41 | Tamiami Trail (305) 552-8365 miccosukee.com/indian_village.htm Situated in the heart of the Everglades, the Miccosukee depot features a Museum of Tribal History along with a village where you can see demonstrations of woodcarving, patchwork, beadwork, and basket weaving. Air boat rides are also available. 9am-5pm. No admission fee, but prices vary depending on activity. PARROT JUNGLE ISLAND 1111 Parrot Jungle Trail (off Macarthur Cswy) | Miami (305) 2-JUNGLE | parrotjungle.com Parrot Jungle was started in 1936, when Franz Scherr only had 25 Macaws, today you'll find 1,100 tropical birds among a tropical paradise fraught with 2,000 plants and flowers. Shows go on daily featuring birds, reptiles, Hanna the orangutan (who has been on Good Morning America)… There's also a 6-foot long lizard that weighs 40 pounds. Adults: $27.95 plus tax. Children 3-10 $22.95 plus tax. Seniors/Students: $25.95. Children under 3: Free. TROPICAL FUN CENTER 27201 S. Dixie Hwy. | Homestead (305) 246-3731 | tropicalfuncenter.com The archetypal Fun Center, the place is brimming with a bunch of fun activities like go-carts, miniature golf, paintball, and more. Children will have a blast doing all there is here. Wednesday-Friday: 12pm-9pm. Saturday and Sunday: 10am-9pm. Prices vary depending on activity. Family
