Oppenheimer There is a quaint café with great music, food, drink, and possessing a Miami quality as implausible as an Elvis sighting: FREE available parking. Luna Star Café is such place. With oversize papier-mache sharks hanging from the ceiling, ceramic cats on wooden chairs nailed to bright yellow walls, and Betty Boop figurines adorning shelves, this café is obviously a place for creative minds. Voted Best Coffee House and Best Open Mic by the Miami New Times, Luna offers poetry reading, live music (jazz, blues, folk…), art, and beer. This is definitely not your mother's beer house. Open since 1996, the café offers more than 100 different kinds of bottled ales, lagers, pilsners, and bocks. If the absence of a Budweiser is confusing, Alexis, the owner of Luna, can help open (beer) minds with her suggestions. That Heineken will never satisfy again. Salads, burgers, pizza, and sandwiches all are part of the café's menu. (Try the hummus platter!) Keep in mind, the word "appetizer" is misleading. Served with veggies and pita, this dish is enough for two. Check Luna Star Café's website for daily events and cafe hours. Hey, Elvis might even be there! 775 Northeast 125th Ave., (305)799-7123; lunastarcafe.com. ML PICK bar TOBACCO ROAD 626 S. Friday and Saturday nights are home to R&B, hip- hop, and all the music in between that make you sing aloud. The drinks are affordable, there is no cover, no dress code—it's a great chill place to hit up with friends. You don't have to dress to the nines to come out here. ROSE BAR At the Delano 1685 Collins Ave. | Miami Beach (305) 672-2001 | delano-hotel.com You'll be hard pressed to find a more beautiful spot to grab a drink than along the Rose Bar at the stunning Delano Hotel. Flowing white curtains hang between massive white columns that lead to a marble bar and towering wood paneled walls. The ambiance is very Miami chic. TITANIC BREWING COMPANY 5813 Ponce De Leon | Coral Gables (305) 667-2537 | titanicbrewery.com Titanic produces a fine selection of award-winning beers and ales. Located next to the University of Miami, in addition to their own brews they serve an international selection of beers, delicious food, and live music. The beers, of course. POST RESTAURANT & LOUNGES 1777 SW 3rd Ave. (off Brickell Ave.) | Miami (305) 856-8585 | postrestaurantmiami.com Good Life + Good Food + Good Karma is the motto here. This posh restaurant and lounge is always a good time--it's where patrons partake in dancing atop the tables and abundant couches. Thursday Night Dinner Party is hosted by Richard Filippe—old school and R&B music play all night. It can get a little wild here. TRANSIT LOUNGE 729 SW 1 Ave. | Miami (305) 377-4628 | transitlounge.us This downtown Miami bar has a laid-back, fun vibe. Serving up live music, pool, darts, board games, classic American bar eats and affordable drinks, it's definitely a spot to have some fun. Everyone from young professionals to artists, and even Colin Farrell (who visited Transit on several occasions while filming Miami Vice) frequent this place. The plush couches, cold beer, and board games. Miami's oldest bar, established in 1912, is still a rockin' spot. This bar/restaurant/cabaret is one of the only places in town to take in blues, rock, jazz, calypso, and more, amidst a crowd of professionals to bikers. They have indoor and outdoor seating, a nice drink selection, and classic American fare. Bars & Lounges
