PROFILE “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” Your DELANO Next Staycation Destination Words by Vanessa Pascale Escaping from the everyday grind is a MUST! Need an excuse? There is always a reason to celebrate — birthday, bachelorette party, promotion, 3-day weekend... Delano was thinking the same thing and created the Girlfriends Getaway package, featuring a complimentary upgrade, complimentary bottle of champagne, reserved poolside cabana or bed daily, continental breakfast daily, and 20% off all spa treatments (2-night minimum stay required). What a deal! Pack your bags girls, it’s time for a staycation — and Delano is the perfect backdrop. Among the best of the best hotels in Miami, this South Beach staple is popular with locals (and anyone remotely familiar with Miami), because of its location (beachfront!) and stylish appeal. A towering pruned hedge cloaks the main entrance and sky-high diaphanous white curtains flow freely from the front to the back of the hotel. In between, is the ultra-glam lounge, where you’ll find the Rose Bar, a pool table, furry blankets and comfy seating. The imaginative Alice in Wonderland-inspired décor transports you to a world unlike your own, especially in the orchard. Preceding the pool area is an inviting orchard, featuring large gumdrop-shaped trees that create shade for a whimsical array of furnishings that include a life-size chessboard and hodge podge seating. 68 MIAMI LIVING Private bungalows and cabanas (in the process of being renovated) surround the palm tree lined pool, where pool attendants provide fresh terrycloth covers for your lounge chair upon arrival, complimentary shot-sized libations and cold towels to keep you cool while you soak up some rays. When it’s time to eat, the poolside menu provides a delicious selection of classic comfort foods like grilled cheese and chicken fingers with French fries. No need to relocate, you can continue your fun in the sun — laughing and reminiscing about the old days, and the food comes to you. Bottle service is also available. After you’ve had some time to take a dip in the ocean, just steps away, and your skin is that perfect sun-kissed shade, it’s time to retreat to the hotel spa. On the top floor of the hotel is their state-of-the-art, full-service spa, Agua. Your muscles are tight from a long work week and one of their soothing massages is just what the doctor ordered. On the other hand, perhaps you are in the mood for a revitalizing facial. Mani/pedi, anyone? Better yet, spoil yourself and dedicate a full day to spa treatments. You owe it to yourself. The penthouse suite is on the same level and accommodates up to six guests. The bright white minimalist design is refreshing, and the private balcony boasts the best view in the hotel –looking out over South Beach’s cerulean blue waves and white sand beach. The suite also features a walk-in wet bar, large marble soaking tub and plenty of space to stretch out. If you don’t need something quite so large, their other rooms are just as chic, with rainfall showers, luxurious bedding, an iPod dock, mini-bar, flat screen TV, 24-hour room service and in- room spa services. Dolled up and ready for dinner? The hotel’s onsite restaurant Blue Door is next on the itinerary for a celebratory meal. For something more casual, Blue Sea serves up delicious sushi and seafood at a communal table right off the lobby. The girls and you will have the time of your life living it up at Delano. Don’t forget to take lots of photos as this will be a staycation you will not want to forget. To take advantage of the Girlfriends Getaway mention promo code SPFNB when booking. To make a reservation call 800-606-6090 — promotion is good thru September 30, 2010. For more information on Delano, visit: www.morganshotelgroup.com 1685 Collins Ave. Miami Beach. ML
