SCOOP Serena Williams attended the Sony Ericsson Open kick-off party at LIV at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach. Mel B also celebrated tennis in Miami at LIV. DJ David Guetta stopped by the Alize Oasis Lounge at The Raleigh Hotel during Winter Music Conference. Also checking the scene at the lounge were Macy Gray, Mya, and Tommy Lee. Bringing the funny to The Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theater were Chelsea Handler and Heather McDonald, who had ’em in stitches, while Sandra Bernhard did her thing – and schooled a heckler like only she could! – at the Parker Playhouse in Fort Lauderdale. Back in Miami, the one and only Alicia Keys showed everyone why she is one of the most talented acts in music with a show at the American Airlines Arena. Up the street, at Bicentennial Park, thousands of people went wild at the annual Ultra Music Festival, which brought out DJs Armin Van Buuren, ATB, Carl Cox, Deadmau5, Tiësto, and Steve Aoki, among others, as well as will.i.am, and Groove Armada. At the end of the weekend, Kelly Rowland, who performed her new single “Commander” at Mansion, hosted a party at ONE Bal Harbour to launch I Heart My Girlfriends with the support of BFF Kim Kardashian, Serena Williams, and Lala Vasquez. In April, Brandy turned up in Carol City to support Flo Rida as he hosted the First Annual Kids Spring and Break into Motivation Event, and Paul McCartney rocked Sun Life Stadium. The 2010 Nautica South Beach Triathlon was, get this, a couple’s romantic affair for Eliza Dushku and Rick Fox, who completed the race in tandem – too cute! Also breaking a sweat for a good cause (the race benefits St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital) was former Bachelor Andy Baldwin, who offered to get me in swimming shape for 2011, the Today show’s Natalie Morales, Geoff Stultz, Biggest Loser winner Ali Vincent, and Heather Tom. Erykah Badu performed – in sweats! – at the AAA; Kate Hudson enjoyed some down time in town, stopping by Hakkasan at the ’bleau for din-din with the resort’s main man, Jeff Soffer, and designer Richard Stark. Hudson also made a cameo appearance at Alchemist on Lincoln Road for the Barbie retrospective that Chrome Hearts and Oribe hosted, as Scott Disick joined DJ Tracy Young at the re-opening of Mia at Biscayne. Jennifer Lopez treated the Magic City to a premiere of its own when she debuted The Back-up Plan at the 140 MIAMI LIVING
