ML Scene Estefan's On Your Feet! Celebrates National Tour Opening at the Arsht Center ON YOUR FEET!, the hit Broadway musical based on the life story of seven-time GRAMMY® winning international superstar Gloria Estefan and her husband, 19-time GRAMMY® winning producer-musician-entrepreneur Emilio Estefan, celebrated its national tour grand opening in their hometown of Miami on October 6 at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County. 2,000 fans and theater lovers attended the sold-out performance inside the Center's Ziff Ballet Opera House. On Your Feet! stars Cuban-American Broadway actress Christie Prades (understudied the role of Gloria in the Broadway production of On Your Feet!; also seen in In The Heights; West Side Story) as Gloria Estefan, and acclaimed stage and television actor Mauricio Martinez (NBC Universo's "El Vato"; Evita) plays Emilio Estefan. The opening night celebration of On Your Feet! made its mark on the Magic City. The Gloria Estefan Foundation and Adrienne Arsht Center Foundation raised over $75,000 from more than a dozen philanthropists and organizations to benefit the people of Miami. "Our music is the way it is because we grew here. We are who we are because we grew here. And we want to share that with the world…We thank you so much. Tantas gracias a todas las personas!" said Gloria Estefan at the show's curtain call on Friday night. "This country is about dreams and we make those dreams come true…and we have lived the American Dream and that dream is not dead." Celebrity and VIP guests included: Emilio and Gloria Estefan; Emily Estefan; Lili Estefan; Sergio Trujillo, Tony Award-nominated choreographer for On Your Feet!; Alexander Dinelaris, Academy Award winner and book writer for On Your Feet!; Bernie Yuman, On Your Feet! producer; Il Volo, operatic pop group; Adrienne Arsht, philanthropist and Arsht Center benefactor; among others.
