Peope Move over, Malcolm Teen star Jenna Ortega is Stuck in the Middle of a really great Disney series Words by Briana Dodson • Photographer: Collin Stark • Hair: Gilbert Muniz • Makeup: Anton Khachaturian • Stylist: Enrique Melendez Jane the Virgin, Stuck in the Middle, Elena of Avalor —these are just a few of the projects keeping actress Jenna Ortega very busy these days. And that's not all. She also stars in Jacob Sartorius' brand-new music video, "Chapstick" (which already has over 11 million views) as his love interest and spent the summer filming Saving Flora, about a young girl who rescues an elephant the night before she is scheduled to be euthanized. You could say this isn't the life of a typical 15-year-old. The American actress, of Mexican and Puerto Rican descent, became interested in acting at just 6 years old, however, at the time, her mother didn't take her interest too seriously. By 8 years old, the budding actress was beginning to audition and was on her way. Now, the young star has several roles under her belt and more on the horizon. And has already made a name for herself in the social media world with 2.8 million Instagram followers. Jenna has spent much of her time working alongside actors and actresses much older than her, but that doesn't intimidate her —if anything, it's motivating and has been an incredible learning experience. Already wise beyond her years (clearly illustrated in her answers here), Jenna spoke with us about her start on the Disney Channel, volunteering (this Thanksgiving, she helped the Los Angeles Mission serve food to the homeless), and holiday traditions.
