magnet Y-3 Yohji Yamamoto (#1111), and the Brazilian fashion brand Osklen (#1111) with organic and tech clothing. Al fresco restaurants abound, but a standout for nearly 10 years remains the very popular Meat Market (#915) with branches in Palm Beach and San Juan. Director of Operations Sebastian Tribout showed me the handsome, narrow interior with wood tones and subdued lighting, glassed-in kitchen, private dining, and the always-crowded front bar with raw oysters, crudos and ceviche. With outside seating for people watching, I relished the tuna tartare with avocado smash and mango mole, a perfectly grilled 22- oz bone-in ribeye, roasted cauliflower and crispy Brussel sprouts with bacon and almonds. A full-bodied 2013 Atlas Peak, Cabernet, Napa Valley admirably complemented the steak. Back at The National's Blues Bar (tapas and light fare) it was time for a night cap and performers at Live! at the National (Thursday-Sunday, from 8:30 pm). Talented singer-pianist Victor Valdez belted out selections from Cabaret to The Girl from Ipanema while I sipped on a Scottish mojito. The room's massive oak bar, original Art Deco pendant lights, and two Lempicka paintings perfectly captured the nostalgic mood. Behind me, a man in a white tuxedo sat listening at the bar. And for a moment, it felt like we were transported to Rick's Café in Casablanca with Humphrey Bogart. ML The National is located at 1677 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, FL 33139.
