DANCE, DANCE, DANCE! DJ Robin Schulz talks about new album and career Words by Claudia Paredes • Photo credit: Maximillian-Koenig In the last four years, Robin Schulz went from DJing at local clubs in Germany's Lower Saxony province to becoming one of Germany's most influential DJs and a world-famous superstar. Schulz, a DJ and record producer, was always destined for greatness. Electronic music ran through his veins and he was not going to ignore the calling. "When I was a kid, my dad was a DJ in the club that my mom was running. So, from a very early age, there was a lot of music around me," he explains. But it wasn't until his teen years that he started to produce and make his own music. "I really couldn't ever imagine myself working at an office job or any kind of regular job," says the 30-year-old. "It's always been a dream to be able to make a living from music, and in the beginning, all I wanted was the security to pay my rent and get by back home in Osnabrück. "This was the start of the transition and because the track developed so fast, my whole life changed in an instant. It definitely took some time for me to adapt," he says. This became the first single on his 20-track album, Prayer. He then remixed "Prayer in C" by Lilly Wood and the Prick, which became the second single on the album, "Willst Du" by Alligatoah was the third, and he wrote the final and fourth single, "Sun Goes Down" featuring vocals by Jasmine Thompson. Three years later, Schulz believes there is still a lot to accomplish. "I still do not think I've made it. It all feels like a crazy dream! I suppose one day I will understand what my team and I have accomplished, but at the moment, the tempo is so fast that I do not have time to think too much." The real challenge began after "Waves" was released. "It seemed quite easy at first, because "Waves" just exploded more or less by itself; the hard work started afterwards, delivering the
