Neon pink signs and white furniture set the tone for the flashy steakhouse, and the 20-foot floor-to-ceiling windows add to the luxurious Miami feel. The STK motto, "Not your daddy's steakhouse" certainly applies as much in Downtown Miami as it does on South Beach or any of the other 11 STK locations. Lines of dropped lights hang from the tall ceiling, hovering over the big, open seating area. From circular booths to wide VIP tables, and plenty of seating for couples and big parties alike, there are no bad seats at STK. A house DJ is typically on hand, and was spinning 90s classics with a heavy hip-hop influence this Thursday night. STK Miami is great to visit before or after your next event downtown, whether it's a concert or a game. It's also a fantastic spot to spend Father's Day or any other special occasion—it's spacious enough for the entire family and offers a wide variety of food that pleases everyone's palate. Early in the evening, it's a great place to grab a light bite (the wagyu sliders are some of the best I've had, and the small form factor is great for such juicy patties). You might catch a glimpse of the game on one of the few TVs mounted in the bar area, but a sports bar this is not. The bar is stylish, but small, and more for waiting patrons or post- game celebrations than it is for fans just looking to grab a drink. And that's as it should be, since the star of the show at STK is the food. Right off the bat, STK will elicit warm "Mmm's" from you and your party with their house sourdough, served in a mini cast-iron crock. Complimentary and served hot, the bread is covered with blue cheese butter and served with a side of chive oil. Pinch off a piece for your first taste of STK. You'll be asking for more. Seared scallops and a great tuna tartare round out some great appetizers, in addition to the raw bar options. The shaved brussels sprout salad was a deliciously pleasant surprise from a restaurant named for its meat. Speaking of meat, the 20 oz sirloin from STK was perfectly cooked and sliced. I would have been happy with nothing else, but the sides at STK shouldn't be ignored. The jalapeno and cheddar grits were another great surprise, packing enough flavor that I could easily take down a whole bowl on their own, and the foraged mushrooms were a welcome twist on a steakhouse classic. Ironically, STK may be best represented by their desserts. Lavish and homemade, sweet and rich, there aren't any bad options. Homemade donuts served in a paper bag and classically flavored apple cobbler are equally desirable. Whether it's an important date, a bite before or after your next concert, or a birthday celebration, STK is the perfect venue for a memorable evening—if you're lucky, you might even end up with a round of shots and sparklers! ML STK is located in the ME Miami Hotel, 1100 Biscayne Blvd, Miami, FL 33132. For more information, visit: www.togrp.com/venue/stk-miami.
