Girl On Fire Christina Ochoa heats up television with three sizzling TV series Words by Leandra A. Gallego and P.D. Penley Photo Credit: Diliana Deltcheva Syfy Channel revs up its engines for its upcoming summer series, Blood Drive, which promises to be a magnificently bloody gore-fest. Hearkening back to the Grindhouse exploitation film genre of the 1970s, Blood Drive features fast cars, mysterious heroes and heroines, grotesque violence, and plenty of squeamish fun. Billed as "almost too depraved for cable TV," this show delivers all the carnage one summer can handle. In a re-imagined Los Angeles, set in 1999, where the skies have dried up, water is a rarity, and the air temperature hovers around 120 degrees, it's every man (and woman) for themselves when society breaks down into savage chaos in the face of brutal environmental collapse. Only one good cop still patrols the roads as crime runs rampant and gruesome murder occurs as commonly as gassing up the car.
