Playa Sol, translating into “Beach Sun”, is a luxury resort and swimwear fashion brand nestled in the heart of Miami, FL. It is boho chic and inspired by nature with an artistic jungle vibe. Specializing in artisanal techniques to transform each garment into an artistic piece, these intricate details and personalized touches make each design unique. The Playa Sol brand was born in Valencia, Venezuela. A tropical place famous for its beaches, but also its deep roots in the fashion and beauty world, especially the Miss Universe Pageant. The first samples were created and manufactured in San Diego, a small suburb of Valencia State. Many obstacles arose due to the country’s collapsing economy where communism was getting stronger, and many exclusive fashion materials that were once found everywhere, soon became scarce. Basic materials like fabric and simple items such as thread were difficult to find. “It hasn’t always been easy and there have been many obstacles” says its designer and creator Diana Gutierrez, “but the Playa Sol brand made its debut at the SLS Hotel for ‘Miami Swim Week® - The Shows’ with the stunning ‘Jungle’ collection.” Design and Vision “The Playa Sol brand name was difficult to find! I actually started out with a different name,” shares Diana. “The Playa Sol name was born and chosen after spending many months in Spain watching sunsets and sunrises- thinking about my childhood and my love for the sun.” “Being born on the beach I was a natural animal and nature lover. I spent many months in Spain connecting with nature, watching animals. In Florida, I spend a lot of time encountering wild animals, especially birds. As time went on I grew an intense passion for wild animals, especially wild birds,” says Diana. “I began researching and learning so much about the history of different species and became fascinated with every color combination. Every bird to me was a piece of art. It opened a passion and love for art like I never knew before.” The Playa Sol design process delightfully uses a blend of flowing fabrics and electric patterns. Specializing in hand embroidery, beading and stone work, many pieces are made using a variety of silk and cotton fabrics, ensuring superior quality and comfort. Each collection is especially curated to bring you the perfect touch of elegance, comfort, and sultriness. “Our mission is to give you confidence, inspiration, and elevate you to look and feel best,” says Diana. Designer Profile Diana Gutierrez was born in Valencia, Venezuela, and has been designing since she was 16 years old . She has attended various schools in the United States to keep educating and improving her skills. “I wanted to create a brand just as unique as all the birds I have encountered,” says Diana. “I use elements from nature as inspiration and artisanal details to turn each design into an artistic piece. I especially love resort wear. I love how free-spirited it is and easy to wear. It works for every body type, and you can make it as casual or elegant as you like.” The 2024/2025 Resort Swim “Floral Jungle” collection debuted this past June at the trendy and popular venue “Giselle” in downtown Miami. Featuring hand-embroidered flowers, floral prints and stone embroidery, it is a timeless collection that is feminine and elegant, perfect for a day on a yacht or dinner on the beach.
