MLM: What do you think gives ANDstudio its unique edge in the world of architecture and design? David: “We focus on building real human relationships and taking clients on a unique journey from concept to reality. We’re flexible, responsive, and deeply invested in the creative process to craft spaces that are both beautiful and functional.” MLM: How do you typically approach a new project? Dakota: “It all starts with listening to the client and understanding their vision and needs. We brainstorm and sketch ideas, then refine these concepts through feasibility studies and code analysis. We develop the design in detail, paying close attention to both aesthetics and functionality. We stay closely involved from start to finish, ensuring everything comes together smoothly.” MLM: What are some of the challenges of working as an architect in South Florida, given the weather conditions, hurricane, and flooding risks? Dakota: “Extreme weather is a constant concern when building in South Florida. Our role as Architect is multi-faceted, we must look to the future to adapt our designs to the evolving climate while ensuring that we respect the existing context that the project is located in. MLM: What are some exciting projects you are currently working on? David: “We’re thrilled about several projects in the pipeline. On the commercial side we’re excited to be part of the Brunello Cucinelli expansion in South Florida; we just finished their Design District flagship store and are currently working on their Palm Beach and Bal Harbour. We’re also working on an Italian restaurant on the Miami River, featuring two buildings with rooftop terraces and a connecting courtyard. We have a few exciting residential projects in the works, including waterfront houses on the Venetian Islands, Bay Harbour Islands, Coconut Grove, and the Bahamas.” MLM: What is the philosophy that drives your work at ANDstudio? Dakota: “We see each project as an opportunity to combine form and function in innovative ways. It’s all about creating timeless spaces that resonate with our clients and elevate their everyday experience.”
