Safary Seasons The “high season,” which usually begins in July and ends in October, is recommended as this season offers you the opportunity to see the most animals. For instance, in the Maasai Mara National Reserve you can witness the migration of 2 million animals from the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania – an astonishing experience. In the lush and “green season” due to the rainy season, it can be unpredictable to see animals because the vegetation is lush, making it more difficult to see them. Also, because of the extra water, the animals that normally congregate at the water holes find water elsewhere, making it even more difficult to spot animals. The “shoulder season” is between the two seasons mentioned above and is a lottery of sorts. Sometimes animals stay longer if they find more food in the area, but this varies greatly from year to year. In the Masai Mara, for example, November is the shoulder season
