At the time, Sierra was studying biology at Armstrong University. Two weeks later, she Facetiming with Lauren Iungerich from the front porch of her Atlanta home. Shortly after, she was on a plane to L.A. for a chemistry read and meeting with the rest of the cast. "I didn't even know what a chemistry read was. I didn't think too much of it. I remember thinking, 'I have a test on Monday. Let me just go out here and get back.' When I'd learned I actually got the role, my mom, grandma, and I were jumping up and down. I don't think I'd ever seen my grandma jump." On My Block debuted March of 2018. Created by Lauren Iungerich, Eddie Gonzalez, and Jeremy Haft, On My Block is a coming- of-age series that deals with the friendships between four teens living in a rough, inner-city Los Angeles neighborhood. The show is unlike any other, placing its focus on underrepresented communities and the experience of growing up in them. Sierra's character Monse Finnie is the headstrong leader of the friend group, who wants to hold everyone together. "I definitely relate to her. She's multi-cultural, as am I, and she finds herself having a lot of guy friends. She never really feels like she fits in with females in the area. I feel like I'm able to channel a lot of the issues that are going on today as well," says Sierra. During their three months of filming, the cast and crew really came together as a family. "I love every cast member. We all help each other out and have so much fun." Sierra, whose mom and grandma still live in Atlanta, makes sure to visit them as often as she can. "I'm not officially moved to Los Angeles —yet, but when I'm gone, I do miss my mother and grandmother's cooking so much! I love East Coast food. And my cat, Wakanda." The second season of On My Block returned to Netflix on March 29. Sierra is acclimating to the world of acting, and is not interested in taking any time off. "My number one goal this year is to get a movie. I'd love to do an action film down the line. Personally, I'd really like to work on living in the moment more. Stepping away from my phone for a bit. And still flexing my acting muscles even when I'm not filming; there's always room for improvement. Outside of work, I would love to go to Venice, Italy, Dubai, Rio de Janeiro, Africa, Egypt —just to name a few." Now, she's enjoying spending time with her mom, who is visiting her in Los Angeles. "I love when she visits. I primarily live in Atlanta still, but I may be making the move out very soon."
