Miami Star Report STAR SIGHTINGS
Words by
My last Star Sightings ended rather
abruptly because I was over my word
count, and for that we have all the
stars that arrived in Miami to blame.
Ha! Did you really think I was going to
offer a mea culpa? I frakkin' love it
when they come to the Magic City to
do their thing – it is great.
Last we checked, though, Britney
Spears had just performed at the
AmericanAirlines Arena. While in
town, Spears indulged in some retail
therapy, reportedly shopping to her
heart's content at Jimmy Choo and
Neiman Marcus at The Village of
Merrick Park. Spears also enjoyed
some well-deserved R&R by the pool
at the Mandarin Oriental.
Kyle Chandler (TV's Friday Night
Lights) treated his co-star Brad
Leland to a fun sushi dinner at Hot
Tuna Miami.
Joaquin Phoenix and Casey Affleck
hit LIV at the Fontainebleau Miami
Beach, a.k.a. the hot spot of the
season, to shoot scenes of the doc
they are working on chronicling
Phoenix's acting-to-rapping
career leap.
Shortly before going on stage, the two
said hello to Willem Dafoe, with
whom Phoenix chatted and laughed
for a few minutes. Later, as Phoenix
wrapped up his first song, he jumped
into the crowd to fight a heckler,
egged on by chants of "Joaquin!
Joaquin! Joaquin!"
Also at LIV, Vin Diesel and Michelle
Rodriguez celebrated the release of
their Fast & Furious.
During the Miami International Film
Festival, Andy Garcia premiered
Cachao: Uno Más at the Gusman
Center for the Performing Arts in
Downtown Miami, while Abel Ferrara
received the festival's Career
Achievement Tribute before the

SCOOP
