After 15 years of success in Miami, Zuma is heading to the mountains. The globally celebrated contemporary Japanese restaurant group—renowned for shaping Miami’s modern dining scene—will debut Zuma Vail this December in the heart of Vail Village, marking its first U.S. alpine destination and its first U.S. opening in more than five years. Located within The Sebastian, one of Colorado’s most storied ski-in, ski-out resorts, Zuma Vail will infuse the energy and elegance of its modern izakaya concept into one of North America’s most iconic winter locales. The opening signals a renewed push in the U.S. market for the brand, which already operates acclaimed locations in Miami, New York, Las Vegas, and Boston. The launch reflects Zuma’s continued North American expansion strategy, building on more than a decade of strong performance in the region. With over 25 locations worldwide, the restaurant group has become synonymous with elevated Japanese dining, a world-class bar program, and vibrant social atmospheres—qualities it now brings to the Rockies. Designed by Azumi Group’s internal design team, Zuma Vail presents a fresh interpretation of the brand’s winter aesthetic. The space features carved timber screens, original Japanese beams with amber resin inlays, and softly glowing washi-rice-paper elements that echo the warmth of the robata grill. Lowered ceilings and boucle-lined booths create an intimate, après-ski-ready environment, offering guests a cozy retreat from the slopes.
