Museum Pérez Art Museum Miami Miami Art Week at Pérez Art Museum Miami: A Celebration of Creativity and Culture As Miami transforms into a vibrant hub of creativity during Miami Art Week, Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) stands out with a dynamic lineup of exhibitions and events. This year, PAMM invites art enthusiasts and curious visitors alike to immerse themselves in a week filled with captivating art experiences that reflect the diverse voices and perspectives shaping our contemporary landscape. Engaging Events and Art Talks Beyond the exhibitions, PAMM has curated an exciting array of events for Miami Art Week. A highlight is PAMM Presents, a Thursday night party on the museum’s waterfront terrace with live music, performances, and opportunities to connect with fellow art lovers. Throughout the week, art talks will offer insights from artists and curators. On December 2, the Scholl Lecture Series features Hilde Lynne Helphenstein (Jerry Gogosian) and Jerry Saltz. On December 3, Kate Capshaw will discuss her exhibition vision with Franklin Sirmans. December 4 offers tours with Black Girls in Art Spaces. These programs explore the creative processes and themes behind the exhibitions, sparking meaningful dialogue and deeper understanding. Exhibitions to Explore A highlight of this year’s programming is José Parlá: Homecoming, showcasing the Miami-born artist’s return to his roots. The exhibition features a new series of unseen works, a site-specific mural, and a gallery space mirroring Parlá’s studio, complete with paint-covered tables and a Cuban-inspired record collection. His distinctive style, marked by layers of color and texture, captures the essence of urban life and personal narrative. This exhibition is a must-see for those interested in the interplay of place and identity. Looking at PAMM’s permanent collection, Every Sound Is a Shape of Time: Selections from PAMM’s Collection explores humanism and beauty drawing from the collection’s strengths in a plurality of voices. The 21 works of art by 17 artists, featuring everything from abstract paintings to photo and text-based conceptualism, invites visitors to reflect on our shared existence and inherent ability to shape our own reality. Calida Rawles’ exhibition Away with the Tides explores the Miami community, presenting water as a site for Black healing and reimagining African American narratives. Through her blend of hyperrealism and poetic abstraction, Rawles creates striking portraits of Black bodies submerged in vibrant waters. Her first museum solo presentation connects her style with the overlooked history of Overtown. While celebrating resilience and identity, her work also invites reflection on marginalized narratives in collective memory. Xican-a.o.x. Body celebrates cultural identity with over 150 works from 70 artists and collectives exploring Chicanx and Latinx experiences. Featuring diverse media such as painting, photography, sculpture, and video, the exhibition highlights the body as a site for political agency, decolonization, and community. It presents a rich tapestry of voices interrogating race, heritage, and belonging, encouraging viewers to reflect on their cultural connections. Other exhibitions on view are Antonia Wright: State of Labor, Jason Seife: Coming to Fruition, Cecilia Vicuña: Quipu Gut, and One Becomes Many. Miami Art Week at PAMM isn’t just for viewing art—it’s an invitation to engage with the narratives, cultures, and communities that shape our world. Whether you’re an art aficionado or newcomer, PAMM’s exhibitions and events offer an enriching experience reflecting Miami’s vibrant pulse. Prepare for a week of exploration, inspiration, and celebration of creativity at PAMM! Pérez Art Museum Miami is located at 1103 Biscayne Blvd., Miami, FL 33132.
