Interiors with Nikita Kahn PARISIAN NEOCLASSICAL STYLE This issue's column was inspired by a modern Parisian apartment in Neoclassical style. I wanted to use the main elements of Neoclassical design with strong furniture pieces, while adding a modern touch, and using a main color palette of blue and white. To help blend the classic with the modern, I imagine updating the Parisian apartment with a bleached oak parquet floor to lighten the space throughout, and bring color and life to the room with a blue palette. Add the Fendi Casa Audrey Loveseat and the Restoration Hardware Almira Hand-knotted Wool Rug in Indigo, which artfully incorporates modernity into centuries-old motifs. Neoclassic interiors usually have intricate plaster moldings that you can mimic by hanging a beautiful ornate mirror like the 1stdibs Antique French Neoclassical Mantel Mirror painted in creamy white, framed by garland tied with a bow at the top. Nothing says elegance and style like Louis XVI decorative pieces other than this dazzling Baccarat Zenith Chandelier with its wealth of chiseled clear crystals, sparkling pendants, and Baccarat's signature single red octagonal crystal hung discreetly. If less extravagance is more your taste, then you can still add a crystal touch to the design with the Baccarat Origami Elephant. Tapered and fluted chair and table legs shaped like columns are also signature furniture pieces to add to complete this design, as in the Chairish Vintage French Louis Style Armchair with its oval back and open-sided upholstered arms or the Ritz Home Collection 15 Place Vendome dinner table that combines the Neoclassic tapered legs with a modern curvy design and rounded edges.
