A Call For Action For this issue, I had the pleasure of sitting down with our cover star, Jason George, who recently stepped into his new role as a firefighter on Shondaland's Station 19. The brawny actor loves that his Grey's Anatomy character Ben Warren is getting to be a new type of hero, who gets to run into burning buildings to save people and climb the fire ladder. He is enjoying the action. Outside of acting, Jason is just as passionate about social issues, one issue being gun safety. We talked about the need for action, the need for a change, like getting the Dickey Amendment repealed. Over the course of history, when a problem has been identified, the leaders in our world have stepped up and said, What can we do to prevent this from happening again? They didn't give up and say, Well, even if we do A, B, and C, so-and-so can still happen, so, what's the point? This is why we have seatbelts and railings on staircases, even though it could easily be argued that we can't make people wear seatbelts or hold the railing when using stairs. However, it is there for our safety. Something can be done to make our country safer from the rise in gun violence, and now, more than ever, is the time to take action and encourage our leaders to start coming up with solutions. And, I, like Jason, fully support this cause.
