TRAVEL FEATURE Hotel Diva brings you the best bits, bites and glamour Eat, Stay, Love Words by Vanessa Pascale For a chic and hospitable respite, retire to Hotel Diva situated in downtown San Francisco. Tailored to appease the most astute tastes, Hotel Diva strives to exceed expectations – and succeeds. Its exterior exhibits historical charm, while the interior is a modish haven. Just before the boutique's entryway is where guests can view the autographs of past celebrity guests impressed into the sidewalk — conveying an ultra glam Hollywood- vibe. A part of Personality Hotels' boutique collection (San Francisco's first boutique hotel company), the flagship Hotel Diva is one of five stylish hotels that the company owns and operates. In late 2011, Hotel Diva completed a $2 million renovation that took this hotel to the next echelon. (They also recently added a cool Perrier sparkling water lounge.) Hotel Diva is all about the details –which is something I noticed and particularly appreciated. Super tasty and addictive, Jelly Belly jelly beans are offered at the front desk (who doesn't love a sweet treat?), and complimentary hot tea and coffee are on hand each morning followed by hot sake nightly. The extra bits don't stop there. There are 116 rooms: 4 suites, 19 junior suites, and 12 executive rooms. All guestrooms boast 36" flat screen televisions, comfy duvets, and iPod alarm clocks. From the custom steel-sculpted headboards to the sexy silhouettes pressed onto the window shades, these cosmopolitan-styled rooms are a glamorous retreat. Bathed in a cool, monochromatic palette of grays and silvers, the space is dotted with bold accent colors in the form of plum- hued throws and other contemporary furnishings. Prepared to accommodate discerning divas, in addition to the requisite toiletries they offer individually-wrapped make-up remover cloths (LOVED that!). The 7th floor is revered as the 86 MIAMI LIVING "salon floor." These luxurious rooms boast down-feather beds, plush robes, in-room bottled water, Philosophy bath products, iPod docking stations, and a complimentary $5 per day Starbucks card. Sweeten your stay at Hotel Diva with one of their suites. Choose between the Suite Atelier (super posh with a whirlpool, wet bar and fireplace), Suite ESC (suited for the business traveler), and the decadent Suite Within Reach. The Little Divas Suite is a two-room suite (separated by a connecting door to the parent's room) that accommodates a family of four. Children will have a ball playing with all its great entertainment options: a Wii gaming system, Mac computer, karaoke machine, and more. Other fabulous features that Hotel Diva provides are complimentary high speed Wi-Fi, full concierge service, 24-hour- fitness center, a business center, meeting rooms, and four fancifully decorated Diva Lounges that you can retreat to for gabbing, relaxation or surfing the internet. Conveniently located in Union Square, it's just steps away from department store shopping at Saks and Neiman Marcus, the Powell Street Cable Car Line, a variety of delectable restaurants and the theater district. Right next door is a Starbucks to satisfy your caffeine fix, and on the opposing side is Colibri Mexican Bistro, which plates Central Mexican cuisine. For brunch, I ordered the Enchiladas Divorciadas, an appetizing explosion of flavor, and washed it down with a couple of mimosas. They were bottomless ($10), so how could I pass that up?
