Gwen Restaurant It's brilliant to have the butcher shop as the restaurant's entryway, since one must realize the trinity vision of its concept (butcher shop, charcuterie, and restaurant). Set in a 1926 building and designed by award-winning brothers Evan and Oliver Haslegrave of Home Studios, the shop features displays of hanging whole animals, handsome wood and cooper butcher blocks, and reclaimed century old tiles that set the scene for Gwen's spectacle. It has been equipped to satisfy the nature of its vision with a distinctive glass-enclosed live fire pit and asador, a state-of-the-art custom- built glass dry-age room, and the hidden upper level mezzanine wine room. The dining room is softly lit, while custom-made furniture and light fixtures enhance the décor and create significant character. The dining experience can be quite magical as the element of surprise is present between dishes, except for the main course where guests are given the option to choose from the menu. It consists of a five-course degustation menu designed by Curtis and his Executive Chef Gareth Evans. For aperitif, the tasting creativity may commence by selecting from Gwen's cocktail program or by choosing from the carefully assembled wine selection by Ben Aviram and Head Sommelier Fahara Samorano. Throughout the courses, guests can satisfy their palate with a variety of elegantly presented house made charcuterie, that can include anything from a balance and flavorful dry-cure salami to a delicate French-style terrine, rillettes, or marinated seafood accompanied by other antipasti and pickled vegetables. Pescatarian and vegetarian options are also available for all courses. Subtle entremets follow the main course to clean ones palate before indulging in dessert.
