MIAMI LIVING 31 SPECIAL EVENT: 2010 WINE & FOOD FESTIVAL This year's Tribute Dinner Honoring Daniel Boulud, at the Loews on Feb. 27, promises to be simply irresistible, and worth splurging on a $525 ticket. Among the A-List chefs, who will be preparing the meal of meals at SoBe in 2010, are Michael Laiskonis and Eric Ripert from Le Bernardin, Nobu Matsuhisa, and Claude Troisgros from Blue Door at the Delano. In an effort to educate kids of all ages – the little ones in particular – SoBe introduced Fun & Fit as a Family, presented by South Beach Diet, a few years ago. Featuring the Kellogg's Kidz Kitchen, this event brings the whole family out for a day of education and fun at Jungle Island. Also scheduled for Feb. 27, this is one of the weekend's most family-oriented and budget-friendly (at $20 in advance) events on the schedule. A toast to education As you can see, the Wine & Food Festival has prepared something for everyone. Those who benefit the most from SoBe β€” once all the parties are over and guests kick the sand off their shoes β€”are FIU students. This is, as mentioned before, an event that grew out of the university, to benefit the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. All benefit the university's School of Hospitality and Tourism Management and the Southern Wine & Spirits Beverage Management Center located at its Biscayne Bay Campus. More than 53,000 participants attended the festival's 2009 edition, and $4 million in tickets were sold, with approximately $2 million going toward FIU.
