Take in the cultural diversity and history of Panama Panama City is Central America's cultural and financial capital. This thriving city is the Latin American headquarters for many multinational companies and offers much history as well. Panama is, of course, probably best known for its world-famous, recently expanded 48-mile canal, one of the world's most stunning engineering feats, and one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World, which directly connects the Pacific Ocean with the Caribbean Sea. Amador Causeway, a narrow land-bridge, built with rocks excavated during the construction of the Panama Canal, is the second longest boardwalk in the city. You'll find a variety of national and international restaurants, nightclubs, and Frank Gehry's famous Biodiversity Museum. You can also rent bicycles, roller skates, and skateboards, or take a trip to the islands of Taboga and Contadora. World-Class Shopping Panama City's upscale malls feature international jewelry, per fume, and fashion brands. You'll find luxury brands like Louis Vuitton, Valentino, Chanel, Tiffany, Zara, Tommy Hilfiger, and Nine West, to name a few. Discover Latin American creativity in the city's art galleries situated in the restored Casco Viejo district. If you want to check out a Panamanian grocery store, try Super 99 or Riba Smith. The latter not only contains a large selection of foods, including healthy options, but also offers international selections resembling those found in the U.S., from Spanish hams and pancake mix to Ben & Jerry's ice cream, and wines.
