Back in August 2014, Belgian artist Felix De Laet better recognized by his stage name, Lost Frequencies, took the music world by storm with his smash hit "Are You with Me," which landed the #1 spot on British, Australian, German, Austrian, Irish, and Swiss music charts simultaneously. The worldwide hit is a reworking of Easton Corbin's original country track, but don't call it a remix. "I like to think of my version as a cover versus a remix. I chose that song because the guitar is really pure and after hearing the original song a few times I knew I could really easily put it together. I had tons of songs I was putting on SoundCloud for free, and my label specifically wanted to focus on this song. So I stopped uploading to SoundCloud." Flash forward two years and the 22-year-old star is now celebrating the release of his first studio album, Less is More featuring sixteen melodious tracks, including his second single, "Reality" feat. Janick Devy, "Beautiful Life," another chart-topper, and his version of Haddaway's original song "What is Love" from 1993 – the same year Felix was born! This album has been a long time coming. "This album is for my family, all of those who listen and support my music. I'm so excited for everyone to hear it and to give me feedback. Most of this music has a very chill, relaxed vibe versus that traditional club type of music. I want people to be able to relax and listen." Between his three chart-topping singles, Lost Frequencies was awarded gold, platinum, and double- platinum in a few dozen countries, gathered over half a billion streams on Spotify and in the UK, and even became the very first Belgian to reach #1 on the official British charts. Someone with those accolades must rarely find the time to sleep. For most of the songs, Lost Frequencies describes the songwriting and creating process as all happening in "4-5 hours. I don't sleep. I know what I want and I get it done." Talk about dedication. And 2016 hasn't slowed down for the artist. Lost Frequencies has already made his way to world-recognized settings including Amnesia Ibiza and Tomorrowland - in both its original Belgian setting and the inaugural Brazil event down in South America. He also had an incredibly busy summer with a sold-out concert at the AB in May, and many other national and international tours. Very recently, October 29th and 30th to be exact, he made his way down to Miami to perform at Wynwood Fear Factory, a festival he described as "really chill," where he joined a lineup of industry greats including Benny Benassi and Flostradamus. When it comes to touring, he also appreciates watching the live acts and how they work for the crowd. He uses those performances for inspiration. And there are a few artists in particular he really looks to. "Flume. I absolutely love his music. He has a signature sound that people want to listen to. I also really love Hardwell." In addition to touring, performing at festivals, and promoting his newly released album, Lost Frequencies has a few other things in the mix. "I'm working on the deluxe album now, which has more of the remixes on it that can be played in the clubs. So that will be released soon!" When asked what he hopes 2017 has in store for him, the musician declares, "just continuing to do more of what I love – making music for my family (fans)."
