The Breakers Imperial Suite The Breakers Zero-Entry Active Pool The Spa at The Breakers - Spa Suite newspaper; business center computer and printer access; Family Entertainment Center; kids' meals (0-2 years); and selected resort and kids' activities. Here on America's most privileged public island, Florida bulges out to its easternmost point. The Gulf Stream wanders so close you feel like luxuriating in the azure waters. Dive-flagged boats bob at anchor while fishermen troll for sailfish less than two miles offshore. Guests may stroll along the paved 500- foot boardwalk, swim in the four seaside pools, and practice yoga or cycling in the high-tech 6,000 sq. ft. Ocean Fitness center equipped with advanced Life Fitness and Technogym exercisers, kettlebells, lateral ellipticals, and pylometrics (jump training). The Beach Club hints of the French Riviera with 25 Beach Bungalows. Additionally, there are five whirlpool spas, three restaurants, half-mile of beach, teak-accented units display stocked bathrooms, patios with chaise lounges and umbrellas – the list goes on. Personalized concierge service is also offered. Watersports include scuba, deep-sea fishing, boogie board rentals, swimming lessons, snorkeling, and paddleboarding. There is also croquet, children's playground, outdoor sports court, bike rentals and tours. The Breakers has maintained a Green Lodging Certification from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection since 2006. Recent initiatives include: replacing cotton towels with products made of 70% bamboo content (no bleaching agents); re-using towel and linen (water conservation); re-cycling plastic and aluminum containers at beachfront and clubhouse; installing energy-efficient light bulbs; among other actions. Last December, The Breakers finished its $8 million renovation by Spa Designer Sylvia Sepielli in tandem with Peacock + Lewis Architects and award-winning landscape designer Gregory Lombardi. The result is an ultra-modern, nuanced-white interior with cool, clean, even occasional classical lines, inspired by four themes: ocean, touch, botanicals, and tradition. The spa uses three exclusive producers: OSEA organic seaweed skin care; ERBE hand-crafted Italian creams and lotions; and Tammy Fender 100% custom-blended botanical formulations. My aesthetician Grace applied traditional aromatherapy with cleanser, toner, exfoliator, extraction, mask, eye cream, and moisturizer. She TRAVEL MIAMI LIVING 127
