During the holidays, loved ones come together to share meals,
humorous family anecdotes, gifts, and gratitude for the year's good
fortune. It is certainly a time to count blessings, and a time to return
them, and the best way to do that is to help those in need.
Opened 50 years ago, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is a pediatric
treatment and research facility that focuses in health giving to children
with cancer and other devastating diseases. The number of patients
successfully treated in the research and patient care hospital makes it
the largest childhood cancer research center in the world. St. Jude is
staffed with researchers, social workers, psychologists, child life
specialists, and chaplains --all ready to help, not only the patients, but
their families as well.
There are so many ways to lend a helping hand, and get involved with
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Make a financial donation. Every
little bit helps. Be creative! Think about unique ways to raise money and
submit new fundraising ideas. Help coordinate an already existing event.
Time and energy are great assets.
If you find yourself in Memphis, Tennessee, where the hospital is
situated, volunteering is a great way to give back. Play board games with
the St. Jude's kids. Help serve treats and bask in the warmth of grateful
smiles. Spend time reading a child's favorite book to them, but keep in
mind, bear and
bunny voices are
required. Also, if the
tale is a good one,
"read it again,
please" requests
should definitely be
obliged. Shop. Visit
