STAR SIGHTINGS Celebrity chef Andrew Zimmern had himself a beach day at the SLS. Elsewhere on the sandbar, so did Adrian Grenier. Chris Brown was seen getting his graffiti artist on while painting a mural on the wall of an office building in town. The 18th annual Sparkle dinner hosted by the National LGBTQ Task Force at the 'bleau – MCd by Lea Black and Elaine Lancaster – honored Kristin Beck, a former Navy SEAL-turned-transgender activist, as well as James G. Pepper, a local LGBTQ rights advocate and philanthropist. Fede & Tiago performed at the event, which is also commonly known as the Miami Recognition Dinner, and which was attended by Martina Navratilova. A few weeks later, the Fontainebleau hosted yet another gala, Lea and Roy Black's Andy Warhol- themed Blacks's Gala. The latter event featured a performance by Aretha Franklin and drew out the Estefans, Flo Rida, Courtney Love, Swizz Beatz, Helio Castroneves, Ross Mathews, Tinsley Mortimer, and Sofia Vergara's ex, Nick Loeb. Gabrielle Union went on a veritable tour of South Florida hot spots to celebrate her 42nd birthday. Let's see, there was the AAA outpost of Hyde the night that the Miami Heat opened its season, as well as a trek up to Café Martorano in Fort Lauderdale, where the Top Five actress had dinner with her new hubby, Dwyane Wade, Chris and Adrienne Bosh, and Udonis Haslem, and a making of the scene at the Cabaret South Beach. Drake came to the Magic City to celebrate his birthday with a bunch of pals, namely Lil Jon, Lil Wayne, Fabolous, The Game, and Timbaland, at Story. Oh, and since dude started from the bottom and now he's a big deal, he also hit Prime 112 for a nice dinner. Benicio Del Toro was spotted all over the place around Halloween. The Academy Award winner had meals at Zuma and at Restaurant Michael Schwartz at The Raleigh Hotel and also looked for tricks (or treats) with a group of friends at E11EVEN. Shawn and Marlon Wayans partied at Cameo on All Hallow's Eve, while hotness on a stick Kate Upton and her baseball-playing bf Justin Verlander had themselves a dinner date at Bianca. Combining business with pleasure in the 305, she also hit the sandbar to strike a pose for Express. Early in November, Forge man Shareef Malnik and Gabrielle Anwar hosted the 20th InterContinental Miami Make-A-Wish Ball downtown, which this year featured a performance by Diana Ross. A Who's Who of TV stars of yesteryear came together in Fort Lauderdale for the christening of the new Princess Cruises Regal Princess ship. Serving as the ship's godparents? None other than Love Boat cast members Gavin MacLeod, Fred Gandy, Ted Lange, Bernie Kopell, Lauren Tewes, and Jill Whelan. Florence Henderson also was on deck, to preside over the ceremony, as well as Loni Anderson, Joyce DeWitt, Pam Grier, Christopher Knight, Diane Ladd, Lorenzo Lamas, Kristy McNichol, Don Most, Mackenzie Phillips, Doris Roberts, Marion Ross, Joan Van Ark, and Dick Van Patten. Meanwhile, the incomparable Charo was on hand to entertain everyone with a classical guitar number, while Jack Jones reprised his famous Love Boat theme. Back on SoBe, that fun-loving Jamie Foxx had himself a good weekend, hitting a Keurig party at Lou La Vie with DJ Irie, and taking the chance to put on a bit of a show for the likes of Nina Agdal and Timbaland. The Oscar winner also let loose at LIV at the 'bleau, while Nicky Hilton plugged her 365 Style book at The Webster. Foxx also took the time to support Michael Capponi at the launch of InList, a new global VIP nightlife app, at the Shelborne Wyndham Grand South Beach. Nick Jonas came back to the 305 to perform at Bayfront Park during the kickoff for the MTV Europe Music Awards. Jake Miller also took the stage at the event. Nicole Polizzi – you know…Snooki – hit South Beach to celebrate her bachelorette with Jenni "JWoww" Farley and Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola. Mahershala Ali (Netflix's House of Cards ) and the lovely Natalie Dormer promoted The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 on Despierta América. Laverne Cox (Netflix's Orange Is the New Black ) raised awareness about transgender acceptance during a Diversity Week speaking engagement at the University of Miami. Patricia Cornwell, Ira Glass, and Anne Rice were among the writers who made appearances at Miami Book Fair International events. And finally, Mrs. Fontainebleau, Elle Macpherson, was the belle of the ball at the opening of Michael Mina's Stripsteak at the resort (the event doubled as the unveiling of the Ocean Drive November cover, which she graced). A few days later, the still-stunning supermodel and her husband, Jeff Soffer (that'd be Mr. Fontainebleau), arrived – via yacht – at Zuma for brunch with pals. And with that, I leave you for now. Happy New Year, and have fun! Elle Macpherson stole the show at the opening of Michael Mina's Stripsteak at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach. Benicio Del Toro partied on Halloween at E11EVEN. Laverne Cox promoted trans acceptance at the University of Miami. 142 MIAMI LIVING
