"
If you want to reach a state of bliss,
then go beyond your ego and the internal dialogue. make a decision
to relinquish the need to control, the need to be approved,
and the need to judge."

how to tame your hungry ego
Words by Levita Galinsky Words by Levita Galinsky
The quote above resonates with most people today. We all have
an ego, as this is what models our lifestyles, to a point. Our ego
portrays what we put on display for people. However, what we
are behind our ego is what really matters. So many of us get
lost or lose our path for some time due to the sole fact that we
let our ego take control for too long a time. Once the ego gets
out of control, you are sure to lose your sense of self. This
holiday season let us refocus our obsessing over power and
money to our morals, values, and hearts.
Follow these 3 steps to tame your hungry ego and
awaken your true self:
1. reestablish gratitude
As a society, we like to complain. We want everything in grand
schemes. We want lots of money, lots of friends, and lots of
material possessions --thinking this equates to happiness. It does,
but only for a short period of time, only to end in more
unhappiness once we realize things are that, just things. Quality
trumps quantity. The latter will not bring us those heartwarming
feelings we ultimately desire. Instead of comparing ourselves to
everyone around us and rather than complaining about
everything we do not have, which is what the ego so desperately
desires, learn to be satisfied with everything that we are and
everything that we have. It is a truly powerful sentiment and one
that will empower us on a spiritual level.
2. remove the labels that you or society
places on you
It is easy to get lost once our egos chase after that job that
expects us to work all day, every day and teaches us nothing.
Remember, you are not your career. Your job does not define
you. What defines you is how you feel about yourself. Without all
of the labels, who are you? Your life experiences contribute to
what your soul has accumulated over time. Learn to be in love
with yourself. Every day take a look in the mirror and smile at
your beautiful self. You are a divine source of life and inspiration.
Admire your physical appearance and actively envision all of the
positive aspects of your mind, body, and soul.
3. reconnect with your uniqueness
Since the ego passionately and consistently feeds into stubborn
feelings of pride, it has the ability to separate you from your
genuine self. What we need to do is get in tune with our true
selves. Who are we truly under these veils of egomania? Each of
us is beautifully special and we all possess unique and valuable
traits --identify them and embrace them. Reconnect with your
divine self. We are all filled with love and have the capacity for
goodness and kindness. We are individual glimmers
of Tthe marvelous life that surrounds us. Let your
unique personality shine! Blog: healthand-
