Words by Josh Rotter Brasileiro Four Ambassadors Suites Hotel | 801 Brickell Bay Dr. | Miami, FL 33131 | (786) 502-3829 | Brasileiromiami.com Brazil has built quite a reputation in the U.S. for its rodizio-style steak service, and lucky for Miami, Brasileiro has brought this culinary obsession to the Four Ambassadors Suites Hotel in the trendy Brickell district. Along scenic Biscayne Bay, the new steakhouse-fusion lounge offers diners a myriad of small plates such as crab cakes and sweet and sour pork wings, along with classic Brazilian staples, such as moqueca bahia and blackened cobia. If it's all-you-can-eat rodizio you're after, expect prime cuts of meat, along with never-ending buffet carts, brimming with authentic sides, all courtesy of chef Guily Booth (The Local House, YUCA, and Cafeina). The Mighty 2224 SW 22nd St. | Miami, FL 33145 | (786)-391-0839 | Dogmiami.com If your perception of beer-drinking involves 40 oz, a paper bag, and a trip to the park, then let husband-andwife duo Esti and Ryan Brooks educate you on just how fancy beer can be. Coming to Coral Way from San Francisco (Buena Vista Café), the Brooks bring with them a taste of the City by the Bay's craft beer scene with the opening of The Mighty. Patrons can expect a menu full of craft beers, several IPAs and house-made pub fare such as pork and brandy sausage. If you're still not sold on beer, don't fret; you can always order off the cocktail list. SUSHISAMBA Coral Gables 180 Aragon Ave. | Coral Gables, FL 33134 | (305) 448-4990 | Sushisamba.com With its creative fusion of Japanese and Brazilian sushi, robata dishes and cocktails, SUSHISAMBA proves that just because sushi started in Japan doesn't mean that it ends there. Executive Chef Brian Nasajon's menu includes such interesting combinations as jumbo shrimp sashimi seviche, organic smoked teriyaki chicken anticuchos with Peruvian corn; yellowtail taquitos; and the Bobo Brazil roll, featuring seared wagyu beef, avocado, kaiware, shiso, red onion and chimichurri ponzu. Mixologist Richard Woods complements these plates with his fusion cocktails. And if you can't wait for lunch or dinner, then come early for their new breakfast menu. Devon Seafood + Steak 11715 Sherri Lane | Miami, FL 33183 | (305) 275-0226 | Devonseafood.com Sometimes a restaurant needs time to hit its stride. Not so with Devon Seafood + Steak, in Kendall, which in its first six months has already been voted "Best Restaurant" by Miami New Times. Chef Scott Barrow impresses with fresh, seasonal and locally-sourced fare such as Creole halibut, Southern fried soft shell crabs, and grilled Copper River Salmon. For those who enjoy variety, there's a monthly, different-themed prix-fixe tasting series on the restaurant's outdoor patio, which boasts beautiful waterfront views and showcases a variety of unique menu offerings and libation pairings. Huahua's Taqueria 1211 Lincoln Rd. | Miami Beach, FL 33139 | (305) 534-8226 | HuahuasTaco.com Taquerias were once after-party spots -- places to grab a drunken snack. Huahua's Taqueria, the creation of Michael Boles and Niloy Thakkar (HaVen Gastro-Lounge), aims to change that. Located in South Beach, the fun and inviting eatery, features a restaurant counter, which doubles as a glass cervezas cooler, and a custom-made margarita machine. Offering a menu by HaVen's own, Chef Todd Erickson, the eatery serves elote, a grilled Mexican sweet corn, house nachos, traditional carnitas, nuevo tacos, taco salads, enchiladas and more. But don't worry, you can still go late night. Bocce Bar 3252 NE 1st Ave. | 3252 NE 1st Ave. | Miami, FL 33137 Why fly to Italy to play Bocce when the ball game comes to Miami? Bocce Bar, a modern Italian restaurant, located in Midtown, features the first official bocce court in the city and a Mediterranean-style outdoor café complete with Vespa parking in front. Executive Chef Timon Balloo (SUGARCANE raw bar grill) promises an eclectic small-plate sharing menu, highlighted by crudos, house-made pastas and fresh-baked breads among other Italian favorites. Cutting-edge beverages, designed by Richard Woods are an added benefit. ML MIAMI LIVING 25
